Yes, this is being discussed over at airliners.net....these reductions are temporary....CX has a problem - they are using 744s on flights to Europe, and are getting killed on operating costs with these aircraft...their solution is to pull a few 77Ws off the North American routes (YYZ, JFK, and LAX all being reduced), and re-deploy them to Europe...they have more 77Ws on order, and once these are delivered, frequencies to N America will be restored..

Don't know where the passengers on these 3 weekly CX flights will go...the flights are always full, but then so are most of the other flights to Asia...

Ah, okay, good to know. My initial thought without knowing that was that AC might try and pick up the slack but if it's only temporary...

Okay. So this plane can't make it westbound to YYZ or they need a tech stop to fill some empty seats?

May 15th 1992 the very last flight since early 1970s

May 15th 2012 marked exactly two decades since JAT halted YYZ.

I think this is just a fuel stop more than anything else. Same as they do for IAD.

Those images were taken on Monday. Having in mind that Aerosvit comes in on Sundays, that would be no lol. However, if you look look on airliners, someone took the picture of it on May the 6th.

I do understand that. I just thought/guessed if you are going to "hunt" Aerosvit.

Thanks for the picture! It's superb

Oh hmm even in that case it's not easy because we have parallel landings. If you look at the picture you posted, the birds would come from the right and get directed on upper (R23) or the lower runway (R24) and (24L the very last one on the bottom in that picture). You can hear on the radio and see the plane landing on the other runway.

Oh, I see. Truly, that's a problematic issue.

It's all good, I am sure once it will come my way.
So what's the news with Aerosvit? Are they willing to bump up YYZ to at least three weekly in the peak season?

The last news I have is that it will be 2 weekly. Hope that they will go for 3 weekly eventually.

Thank you. Lets see how that works out. Btw we also have a very small airport in the North part of the city. It's being used for cessnas and smaller biz jets. I went there the other day for a walk, and it was a nice turnout. I did not expect much, but one nice biz jet landed in matter of minutes. Here is the video clip I made. The facility has a few reputable pilot schools, as well as private jets for hire. Gotta get some better pictures with my other camera.

Haven't seen any press release yet, but TACA will be increasing their flights from SAL to YYZ from 3 x's weekly to daily, effective July 1...

You should hurry with those photos, as Buttonville's (YKZ) days as an airport are numbered. The land was sold to a Cadillac-Fairview in 2010 with plans to redevelop the site into a mixed-use area with commercial, residential and offices. They gave a 5-year timeline of which we are approaching the half-way point. The whole closure date is still somewhat up in the air.
