I believe that it will use Terminal 3 as it is currently an unaligned airline.

That means JED-YYZ? It's interesting that SV's long-haul flights to N America begin in JED instead of RUH...

Jeddah is more open than Riyadh so logically flights from Jeddah first would be more sense also depending on the numbers of North American in Jeddah are more than Riyadh

Usually airlines are assigned terminals based on their alliances and partnerships. Alitalia was in terminal 1 because they used to do code-share flights with Air Canada. Same situation with Air Jamaica, once the partnerships ended, the airlines just moved to Term 3. US Airways used to be based in Term 3, but once Air Canada consolidated all flights into the new Term 1, US changed terminals.

This isn't always the case though, Emirates, Jet Airways, Sunwing, Etihad and others, are not alligned and operate from from Term 1. Since they don't need to be in the same terminal as any other airline, they get assigned to a terminal where there is space.

Ah ok. Well, I might see SV operating from either T1 or T3, but I think it will depend on the airport authority which terminal the airline will be assigned.

As a result of the discussion on Company’s branches and representative offices a decision to open representative offices of JSC “Aeroflot” in Novokuznetsk, Saratov, Magnitogorsk, Toronto (Canada), Lion (France), Mumbai (India), Samarkand (Uzbekistan) has been made. Also a decision to close down representative offices in Luanda (Angola) and Damascus (Syria) has been made.

A first step towards restoring service to YYZ perhaps??

Sounds like really good news indeed. Now the next step: making MNL a destination for AC, if economic conditions are right.

I did some poking around when the schedule was announced. Unless it was an introductory promotion, PR is cheaper than DL which is apparently the traditional title-holder of cheapest YYZ-MNL flights if you are able to travel through the US. Given the visa requirements involved to transit through the US, PR is banking on undercutting the other Asian carriers.

A codeshare with AC would allow PR the additional flights it wanted into Canada and would place it at Terminal 1 when it does arrive in Toronto. Depending on how that fares, they could launch AC flights to MNL at some future point.

I believe that could become the strategy for PR, given that it is looking to turn itself around from years of flat growth, especially that Toronto would be its first long-haul destination in a long time after Las Vegas.

Russian forumers are saying SU will be coming back to YYZ next year. I would hope they do.

Leaving YYZ

I flew out out YYZ, and I decicded to snap a few photos. Lufthan A340-600 and Air Canada 77W right next to eachother. AC arrived from LHR.

Another "big fish/bird"

Now some terminal 1 photos as well.

Looks really nice indeed. I wish I can fly to YYZ soon.

Heading back to YYZ

I arrived around 1:30pm when the airport was not busy at all. Jet Airways already had arrived from India, as well as some AC B777s.

As much as I wanted to get out asap, I went on top of the jetways to take the photos. I guess it was worth it.

In this picture you can see Toronto's skyline way at the back.

B777-3ER getting ready for mid afternood flight to Asia?

Hahaha sounds about right. But I think my aunt, mother, and I can drive to Toronto from San Francisco so that we can see more of the American countryside

Plus, what are you going to do in the former Yugoslavia, and which cities are you going to visit?
