Yeah, on top of that, flighttracker is showing an A330 from YYZ-FCO for Alitalia. Could this be a regular visitor from now and on?

I am referring to Toronto-Rome market. We have four airlines serving YYZ-FCO. AZ/AC as legacy carriers and WG/TS as leisure airlines. On top of that, there is competition from LH/OS with one stop.

Wait... I did my research, and it seems like AZ is the only carrier doing YYZ-FCO full-time, with AC, TS, and WG doing the same route as seasonal charters only. LH and OS on the other hand do the one-stop service.

Yeah, but that is for Nov-March which is very slow season a part from the X-Mas and new year.

Schedule:

BA093 LHR1205 – 1510YYZ 767 D
BA097 LHR1400 – 1710YYZ 767 15
BA097 LHR1405 – 1710YYZ 767 7
BA099 LHR1620 – 1850YYZ 744 D

BA092 YYZ1855 – 0705+1LHR 767 D
BA098 YYZ2050 – 0845+1LHR 744 D
BA096 YYZ2145 – 1005+1LHR 767 157

Reservation for the new flight was opened since Thursday (01NOV12), but Airline Route hold off this news until Friday morning as a precaution given BA’s schedule update for certain routes takes up to 24 hours. Additional changes remain possible.

Looks like BA is going to be competitive on the YYZ-LHR route with that many flights a week, going against AC. But, hmmm, BA using a 763 versus a 772 or 77W?

AZ will operate the A332 as of next summer on a consistent basis.

Yes, Air Canada actually flies an A319 to LHR from Halifax daily. I find it a bit interesting because that is indeed one of the smallest aircraft that can do Transatlantic journeys on a scheduled basis... A318 with British Airways is the smallest passenger jet operated as a scheduled passenger service.

Just thought I would compile a small list of airlines that are expected or rumoured to start next year:

Egytair
Saudi
Aeroflot
Sri Lankan
Kenya Airways (2014/2015) Not next year, I know, but still.

Please feel free to add to this. No real reason to start it other than to keep track of stuff.

Sri Lankan? What the... what would be the stopover for a CMB-YYZ flight, and what aircraft will be used?

There were rumblings that the stopover would be either LHR or LGW, with fifth freedoms...there would need to be a new bilateral agreement between Canada and Sri Lanka for that to happen....not sure of the equipment type planned...

BTW, I think you can add both Avianca and Aero Republica aka LAN Colombia to that list....

Is Avianca a rumour or expected? You're right, I did forget Aero Republica.
My understanding re Sri Lankan was 5th freedom from LHR on a 343. They were supposed to be meeting in May 2012 to revise the current bilateral but I hadn't heard anything about that since.

Μ thought Sri Lankan was granted the authority and that they were code sharing with AC via Heathrow? I remember that in the Transport Canada website that AC had applied to codeshare with Sri Lankan.

Correct me if I am wrong.
