Sweet! I feel like a boy in a candy store. Btw I flew out of YUL recently, and took some decent pictures. I saw that AF 747 that used to come to YYZ. It's a shame to see it go....

Also just learned that Burberry, Bulgari, and Ferragamo are opening shops at T1, Hammerhead pier. The hoarding is up for Bulgari already. It's been a long freakin' time coming!

How is it "exceeding expectations" when YVR-ICN will return back to daily operation and that the YYZ-ICN 3-weekly operation be cancelled after 27/OCT.

I think, first of all, it's not being cancelled, rather just seasonal. Also, that could be changed with this new information. They may want the aircraft on other routes for the time being and are waiting for their 787 delivery...
Who knows really.

It helps to have a partner airline to feed to on the otherside and doesnt fly to Canada.

The lack of Asiana at YYZ is strange, moreso than the lack of ANA.

Dont have enough planes to start more long haul services.

Need to wait until A350s and 380s arrives.

The Canadian government issued a press release today which seems to indicate that the air agreement with Bangladesh is a done deal....

Canada announces a first air transport agreement with Bangladesh

OTTAWA, Aug. 28, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, and the Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, today announced that Canada has successfully concluded a first-ever air transport agreement with Bangladesh, allowing direct scheduled air services between the two countries.

"The Canada-Bangladesh air travel market is growing rapidly," said Minister Raitt. "This new air transport agreement will facilitate air travel between both countries and provide more convenience to travellers and shippers."

The agreement provides flexibility for airlines to access all points in Canada and Bangladesh, both for passenger and all-cargo services. Airlines may also choose to offer air services by sharing space on the flights of other airlines, an industry practice commonly known as code-sharing.

"Our government's pro-trade plan is focused on opening new markets for Canadian businesses," said Minister Fast. "Direct air service between Canada and Bangladesh will better connect our business people, students and other travellers which will help us deepen the Canada-Bangladesh partnership."

The agreement allows airlines to offer new services immediately.

So now let's sit back and wait for the route announcement...

The first BA 787 to YYZ is on its way, and is due in at 2:30pm....flight number is BA 093, and registration for the airplane is G-ZBJB

Actually, this is the very first BA 787 regularly scheduled longhaul flight anywhere in the world....

Is the BA 787 replacing the 767 to YYZ? I think BA still have two other flights every day if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, for the most-part it is. On three days of the week however (Friday, Sunday and Monday i believe) there is BA97 added in which is a 767. So most days there is only 2 daily flights on the 787 and 747.

Correct me if I am wrong, but there should be three daily flights by British Airways, BA093, BA097, BA099. Having said that, are they still sending their triple sevens to YYZ?

Actually, there are only two daily flights and an additional flight operating thrice weekly...

BA093 LHR1215 – 1450YYZ 777 D
BA097 LHR1405 – 1710YYZ 777 157
BA099 LHR1620 – 1855YYZ 788 D

BA092 YYZ1920 – 0705+1LHR 777 D
BA098 YYZ2055 – 0850+1LHR 788 x1
BA098 YYZ2120 – 0915+1LHR 788 1
BA096 YYZ2245 – 1100+1LHR 777 157

The result: BA operates to YYZ from LHR 17 times weekly.

Details here

I've been looking at the arrivals for the past few days (since Saturday) and they haven't been using Runway 05/23 at all. Saturday and today all arrivals are/were on 24R/L and Sunday all arrivals were on 06R/L. All departures were on 33R, 06L, 24R on the weekend and today. Today the Emirates A380 landed on 24R which is a fairly rare occurrence since it lands on 05/23 99% of the time.

So basically I'm wondering if anyone knows what is happening with Runway 05/23...Is there construction on the runway, issues with the glide slope, etc?
