Lets hope. I would not mind flying with them to Belgrade.

Incredibly strong finish for YYZ pax numbers this year - Q4 in particular, and most notably international pax numbers jumped from being down 70K at the end of September to finishing 82K up overall on the year. Not the half million it was up in 2012 over 2011, but considering the dismal start to the year, I'd say amazing growth and well positioned for stronger growth in 2014.

The big losses late last year and early this year were Air India, CX's double daily, Aerosvit, and Jazz's Thomas Cook contract.

Couple of Updates:

1. Looks like HU has changed it's mind on deploying their new B788s to YYZ.

Starting now until June the B788 will operate 4x weekly to YYZ with the A346 operating the remaining 3 days.
June 2014 onward the B788 will be used for all frequencies.

Link: http://airlineroute.net/2014/02/10/hu-yyz-s14update3/

2. Lots of chances to fly the AC B788 domestically as it will be used extensively on YYZ-YUL runs with 10x weekly flights in May & June.

AC400 YYZ0700 – 0815YUL 788 234
AC414 YYZ1400 – 1515YUL 788 D

AC407 YUL1000 – 1123YYZ 788 234
AC435 YUL1630 – 1752YYZ 788 D

Some good info. There is some talk on airliners that Turkish may lease some A380 from troubled MH. They would like to fly them to JFK/YYZ and some other North American premium markets.. Lets see how it unfolds.

Great news from Hainan, China Airlines, and China Eastern. Hainan is launching Shanghai-Toronto in May on the 787. So that means we'll likely see double daily Hainan at some point in the future. For now, this will be a twice weekly, Monday and Thursday service. China Airlines has also been approved on the route and China Eastern will be starting from June. With such a bump in Shanghai capacity, I wonder where that puts YYZ relative to YVR with respect to overall capacity and frequency to A-PAC.

Fantastic news, ACT7...there is a Chinese invasion coming our way!

One thing: "China Airlines" is a Taiwanese carrier, whereas "Air China" is the mainland China carrier that was awarded the route....there has always been confusion over the similar names...

My bad - good catch. I even read Air China and wrote China Airlines by accident.

A little add-on to this:

http://www.wcarn.com/news/30/30501.html

Hard to tell from this if Air China will be launching Shanghai or Beijing flights - or both

So to confirm we have:

1) Hainan starting Shanghai-Toronto in addition to existing Beijing-Toronto
2) Air China starting Beijing-Toronto
3) China Eastern starting Shanghai-Toronto (?) - This one took me by surprise.

Based on the article it said that PVG-YYZ would have "more than" 10x weekly:
So AC 7x weekly on B77L/B77Ws, HU 2x weekly on the B788 for confirmed is 9 weekly.

MU has only 5 A346s (which I presume will the equipment of choice on the route)
so the flight cannot be daily. I am thinking 3x weekly max considering the lack of frames?

I am surprised by MU... would have expected it to be CZ operating to YYZ ahead of them.

Instead of letting more slots to Chinese, they should seriously consider letting more to EK and EY, which only have 3 slots a week.

I don't know if Canada-UAE relations have thawed enough to bring that up at the discussion table. Chinese-Canadian relations are much warmer by comparison.

I am sure EK/EY were after the Chinese market from YYZ besides the existing competition.

I am not sure if any of you have have noticed, but looks like Turkish added some departures around 4PM. That would offer much better connections for the Eastern Europe, and give them a chance to compete with the EU airlines offering the similar connections.

That's awesome! I prefer Haneda over Narita any day!

I'm also glad EVA Air is coming to Toronto, It'd be nice to see more international carriers in T1, now hoping for Asiana and ANA.

Another thing with Pearson, I hope they didn't restrict access from US departures/International/Canada... I really wanted David's Tea but it was only in the Canadian side lol

EVA has been flying to Toronto for a few years now. They've moved to T1 because of joining *A and are increasing their frequency to 4 or 5 (can't remember) times a week.
