I just booked a ticket from Croatia to Toronto using TK for the first time. Yes I am going to be going out of my way with a longer flight by around two hours, but on my Zagreb-Istanbul leg they will provide me with a hotel stay in Istanbul which I found favorable. I will have just enough time to have coffee, and a breakfast in the old part of Istanbul before my flight leaves for Toronto at 14:10.

On my return flights I'll most likely try and see the Cave Hotels in Cappadocia once I arrive in Istanbul, that's before my return leg to Zagreb.
In terms of my European ventures, I would rate them as second the best right behind British Airways.

Agreed...
But it seems like someone heard our complaint:

Pretty decent overall, with international being strongest growth (percentage and absolute numbers). Great to see!

Cappadocia is awesome! Went a couple of years ago and loved it. We stayed at the Kelebek Hotel in Goereme. Awesome little place, great staff, great food, and if you can, do the hammam spa. I know it's a little kitchy but well worth it.

If you are specifically referring to statistics, I think Canadian society as a whole is not very good at releasing/sharing information. I once spoke with an executive staff at YVR Marketing and he told me finding free quality statistics in Canada (especially regarding domestic and global traffic movements) is almost next to impossible. On another scale, look at public transport and you'd hardly find any detailed information about the performance of public transport lines and networks. The information I usually find is from the States about our Canadian systems. Whereas if you go to Australia or the UK, you can easily find the information on punctuality and reliability on various scales.

That's true. But for whatever reason YEG seems to be very good at publishing their stats in timely manner. YVR is good at it too - very consistent. I find that YYZ is probably one of the worst for this.

I have been told by my travel agent that Turks want to dump the fares to snatch the traffic from the Balkans. That's the main reason why Lufthansa is halting the codeshare flights with TK. When I look at German/Austrian anti-Serb propaganda in terms of joining the EU and what not, I was more than pleased to fly with TK. Both of us Serbs and Turks are discriminated by the crew from the Western Europe.

I will chit chat with her again, and see what would it cost me and my family to fly with Etihad to Belgrade. They have two daily flight on BEG-AUH sector, so We should be able to connect easy.

Super! Wish you luck and hope they bump you to the comfort class or even upper. Btw I took this one just before we boarded her, and a few others from my spotting trips.

Here they come, and send picture from a different angle.

Taken from the other angle on a different day. Lol I am a nerd haha.

New T1 Retail

FYI Victoria's Secret is now open in YYZ T1 Domestic departure area.
Perfect for all potential "mile high club" aspirers

yyzhyd: would you know why the 'footprint' of the next pier at T1 has been fenced off?

I don't recall this being the case before.

As is MAC right beside it. Still more hoarding beside MAC so at least one more store is opening very soon.

I would guess this winter (not more than a month or two old).

Interesting to see it fenced off...

The fence has been there for over 2 years.

Preparing space for expansion and the next pier maybe? It would go in that exact spot according to the terminal plans.

apparently the next pier is supposed to open around 2017, so construction will have to begin in the next year or so if they want to meet that date.

The new runway should be starting in the next year or so as well.
