Unrelated a bit, but the retail scene continues to grow at T1 domestic. Jo Malone London (first standalone in Canada and one of only a handful in NA) has opened alongside Aveda. Hoarding is also up at was 'Destination Toronto' - the crappy retailers at the corner facing the escalators.

I'm loving all the new retail! Hopefully they continue with Pier F and not just keep the weird layout of luxury retail at the hammerhead.

I'm with you on that. It seems like T3 is next on the agenda, though. Not complaining, but I think that's where a large chunk of the effort will be concentrated for the next little while.

It's long over due. Retail is one area where Pearson really falls down. There's a surprising lack of options to eat, shop, relax, etc.

The AC Dreamliner is indeed scheduled to arrive at YYZ on Sunday....here's a quote from a spotter's group I follow...

Quote:
Air Canada's first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner C-GHPQ fin 801 will be delivered from Everett to Toronto Pearson on this Sunday May 18 at 15:00. Flight number has been reported as AC7008. There will likely be a flypast on arrival and water cannon salute is planned. An event for Air Canada employees will take place in the hangar to celebrate the arrival.
The runway 33 arrival would be consistent with a fly past...

It absolutely sucked before these changes, but has done a complete 180 in the last year. Food options are great now, as is the duty free in T1 Hammerhead.

I vaguely remember, yes, they started with 777s, but only for a week or so, then they switched to the A330......way back when....

Also, here's a new bit of info on Turkmenistan...apparently they plan to operate their YYZ service via Riga, Latvia...

http://www.baltic-course.com/eng/goo...ess/?doc=91856

I still find it hard to believe we will ever see Turkmenistan in YYZ.....

It is a very obscure route but you never know - it may just work with enough transit passengers from the 'Stans'. The question is whether or not the yield will be there to make it work with a triple 7, as they plan.

Doesn't seem like Air China has updated their plans in a while too. Hopefully it doesn't mean their YYZ plans are dead in the water.

I haven't been there in 1-2 years so that's good to hear. Now if only they would improve the signage. It's the absolute worst I've ever encountered any where. You shouldn't have to ask a staff member which way to go, but you do. I know because I've been there many times before, but a first time visitor who doesn't speak English or French is going to have problems knowing which way to go at least 2-3 times before getting where they want to go.

A simple sign like this below at the top of the first escalator would do wonders, but I guess they just want people to guess. You're just supposed to know that you have to do a 180 when you reach the top of the escalator. It's only after walking aimlessly for a minute or two till you realize you're going in the right direction. Pearson is shockingly amateur and when it comes to important details like this.

From CAPA, Iberia is considering re-entering the YYZ and YUL markets.

http://centreforaviation.com/news/ib...-report-335135

Bring it on!

Here's the general link to CAPA in case the one above doesn't work as it's a paid site.

Unfortunately I can't open the Iberia link (paid site), but if you are, could you provide some flavour around the article?

I'd love to see an Iberia route, and their Africa network is extremely well developed, so this could work from a transit pax pov.

I can see (same plane service) YYZ-YUL-MAD, a little like how CSA and Olympic operated.

I don't actually have the paid membership (it's extremely pricey) so all see is the title link in the list (if you use the second link in my previous post).

I agree with you - I could see it starting off as a YYZ-YUL-MAD flight, although didn't CSA drop YUL altogether and just operate out of YYZ at the end?
