Actually, Air Jamaica was closed down last month. Its operations were merged into Caribbean Airlines.

Correct and not correct....they have been taken over by BW, but are still operating under their own certificate, with their own aircraft, to the U.S. and Canada....reason, the bilateral air agreements that Jamaica has with both the U.S. and Canada do not currently permit the operation of flights between Jamaica and the respective countries, by a carrier with ownership outside of Jamaica....

Jamaica is currently attempting to amend their bilateral air agreements with both the U.S. and Canada to allow for this....negotiations with Canada are scheduled for July, and in the meantime Air Jamaica will continue to operate the flights with Air Jamaica crews and aircraft....

Yes! There have already been quite a few aircraft arriving, including a couple of Russian IL96s, a couple of IL76s, an Air Bridge Cargo 744, USAF C-17, Nigerian bizget with the Presidential seal on the tail, plus the Presidential flight of Ecuador, although this last one may not be part of the G08/G20...

You can keep up with the log of unusual aircraft here....

http://www.yyznews.com/airportlog2.html

btw, security is very, very heavy already - infield is off limits, etc...

Did a bit of usual creeping - this is from the Virgin Atlantic website:

Virgin Atlantic is always looking at new route opportunities. Our current wish list of new routes includes Melbourne, Bangkok, Toronto, Rio and Seattle!

Apparently Branson is in town Tuesday for some sort of announcement. Maybe it's for VS's new route?

According to yyznews.com, Hainan Airlines has applied for and received route authority for Toronto. They plan on starting the route this year. This is because Air China had the previous authority but never used it. Hainan is recruiting for a base in Toronto based on asiajobs.com.

Information:
Hainan Airlines (HU/CHH) --Jun 15, 2010
Crew Base --in a posting on the asiajobs77.com web site Hainan are advertising that an A340/330 Crew Base is coming soon to Toronto. "We have a number of ongoing Captain requirements for Hainan Airlines in China. Must hold ATPL on A330 type rating and have logged at least 500 hours as IPC on type, hold a valid Class 1 Medical Certificate ICAO level 4 or above. Age below 53yrs and contract pays US$11,500 per month with US$24,000 per annum bonus. As reported on May 14th Hainan Airlines has been given authority to operate to Canada by the Chinese government and say they intend to start late this year with non-stop service from Beijing using A340-600s acquired from Cathay Pacific.

Anyone heard anything about Ethopian starting YYZ ops? It was rumoured to be June/July but have not heard a thing. Also, AC has been applying for Codeshare all over the Middle East and Africa. Will we have any other African Carriers here in YYZ?
