Isn't this the traditional schedule boost during winter months as it is their travel peak time? Will the old schedule come back afterwards?

Hi hk, as far as I know, the new nonstops are part of an overall strategy by Air India to leverage their new terminal at DEL as an international connection point....they are also adding new nonstops to ORD and to JFK...

The new schedule is planned be a permanent change, afaik, and the slots they were using at Heathrow for the existing DEL-LHR-YYZ flights are being filled with a new 2nd daily DEL-LHR rotation....

Thanks. I guess it will be a further barrier to re-entry for AC!

Hainan Airlines Times and Dates

This is a quote from www.yyznews.com:

Hainan Airlines (HU/CHH) --Jul 25, 2010
Canada Service --the airline is still waiting for final approval from the CTA for its license to begin international scheduled service linking Beijing with Toronto on August 7th. The airline plans to use their Airbus A340-600s on the route operating three days per week (Mon/Wed/Sat) with flights arriving at Toronto(YYZ) at 1420hrs as flight CHH7975 and departing at 1600hrs as flight CHH7976 non-stop to Beijing. The airline will utilize Terminal 3 at Toronto. While the August 7th start date is pretty optimistic, the airline will begin service and another date announced once they receive their final license approval from the CTA.

I don't see any issues if they are using a B773.

Fed Ex Upgrades Fleet to Quieter 757s

Other interesting news from www.gtaa.com :

Thursday, July 29 was an important day for Toronto Pearson and its neighbours. Cargo carrier FedEx, one the largest carriers serving Toronto Pearson, brought in the first of many new quieter Boeing 757 aircraft to their facility at the north end of the airport. This historic flight was greeted with a water cannon salute from the airport firefighters.

In addition to the growth capacity at Toronto Pearson, this is an important milestone because FedEx operates most of their flights during the night hours and the new Boeing 757 aircraft are amongst the quietest types flying today. For some of our closest neighbours, night time operations are an ongoing matter of concern so this change is a step in the right direction. Through the Community Environment and Noise Advisory Committee, GTAA staff has worked diligently with FedEx to encourage the conversion of the Boeing 727 to a quieter and more fuel efficient aircraft.

FedEx flights across Canada are operated by their partner carrier Morningstar Air Express.

The GTAA would like to thank FedEx for showing its major commitment to the Toronto market by making this significant change to its fleet.

Any news on Alitalia and their YYZ equipment. I was told that they will swap 763 for the brand new A330 birds. They already reacived four new A330. I am just afraid that it will not happen until 2011 summer season.

I am not quite sure when they will
replace the 767-300 to the a330-200 but i know they have all ready started the replacement on the Milan - New York route. I think the swap will probably begin by the end of 2010 maybe early 2011.

Well, they have received just four frames so far. I made a booking on their page, it shows as a 764. So nothing before the 2011 summer time I guess.

Really? I had a feeling Milan-JFK is being operated with a B777 just like JFK-FCO. Looks as if they get a beaten up 763 as well. Thanks for the info.

They did say that, but that was before they ordered 777s....I think you will see them here at YYZ in the spring of 2011, at the latest....
