LA's skyline comes third by a long shot. Sorry..

Tell that to the Best Skyline in the West or US Top 10 threads.

No. SF has a much better looking skyline than LA. You got the water with the skyscrapers and hills in the background. There are no hills and and water anywhere near Downtown LA.

What constitutes "anywhere near?" I drove through twice this weekend like I have for the last 30 years and I saw plenty of hills. Echo Park, Silver Lake, and Lake Hollywood are all within a few miles as well.

I thought we were talking about buildings here.

No but LA has a mountain backdrop, something SF can't brag about

The location couldn't be any better. It will strengthen the blocks around it with its massive height.

The bottom line is LA is a ugly city compared to SF and the smog makes it worse. There really is no definition of LA anyway. To me, LA is the whole LA County.

I heard from varying reports from December of this year to sometime next year that it will top out and varying reports that it will be completed in 2017 or 2018. I hope it is completed next year.

Based on the speed so far, I believe it is entirely possible that the core tops out this year, but probably not the steel.
