I love SOM's...for some reason it reminds me of a modern day Transamerica Pyramid.

This building is so hot! It's original and different. I speculate that people don't like it just because it is not as tall as the others.

Speculation is bad for the Truth.

Please tell me this is sarcasm.
The reason people don't like it is because the exposed metalwork is ugly and painted red of all colors! Also, the way the floors are placed is odd too. The Mechanical floors are sunk in, behind the real facade.
However, it is unique. I will give it that!

These neighbors are not carved by the hands of nature, but by the hands of men. These neighbors are buildings that scrape the sky." -1930's quote, author unknown.

It's called an opinion, if that's what BrooklynNYC wants to think about the proposal, then he has every right too.

Some people happen to like structural expressionism because they think the structure has a beauty of its own. I am one of those people, which is why I think the "mordor" design is the best. Also, red is a good color. It makes the structure even more noticeable. It stands out in a bleak cityscape of nothing but gray, white, and black. Setback mechanical floors? Don't know why that's a complaint, but it adds to the industrial feel of the building, which is what I like about it.

The SOM proposal looks like a sopa opera building to me, with curvy nylon crap on it. It looks like someone threw streamers up.

EDIT: And how is a comparison to a fictional tower at all pertinent?

There's no story to the outputter's design. S/he's drummed up housing that's trying to make itself some mucked up contraption.

Start designing! ha'nt folks waited long enough already? cheesh

The whole spire's screaming! to become sooted by at least a single corrosive volcanoe....the dang thing's sorely filthy already.

It's kind of obvious that the SOM version is the one that needs to be built... the other 2 simply do not compare. It would be a wonderful addition to the SF skyline...
