I like the Salesforce Tower design overall but I might like the one in Chile even more too.

I know I'm repeating myself but I just wish they had an observation deck. To me, it is a mistake not to include one. Also, I wish the building was a little bit "skinnier" and slightly even taller. But, I think overall, it is a great addition to the skyline.

It´s a huge jump for the skyline, true that. I hope that SF will once get a 400m+ tower. SF totally has the potential to become the Hong Kong of the US. It has the natural backdrop, the waters surrounding it and everything else.

400m+ tower? That will never happen. SF has earthquakes and they are concerned about shadows. So, I see Salesforce Tower will be the tallest tower ever for the city. They will never build a tower taller than this.

...The geographic configuration is different.
Moreover,San Francisco is one of the five most beautiful cities in the world as it is.
I've been to Honk kong:the waterfront is amazing but forget the inner city

The same was said about the Transamerica Pyramid and look it now. It'll take some decades to get something a few meters taller of course but it'll happen naturally.. as the 300mt setted bar is matched by other buildings near-by in the future, then someone is going to raise thebar again this time to 350+mt etc. and the race will continue until humans find a better way than vertial construction to use their land and stop the sprawling.

I mean, the SOM/Rockefeller proposal was 1350 ft...

Were it not for the selection jury's emphasis on bid price, it could easily have won and we'd now be looking at a top-5 building in the US.

That's not to say that the economic downturn wouldn't have forced Rockefeller to height-chop that proposal just like Hines did from their original 1200 ft. But there was the money and the will to build a 400m+ tower back in 2007, earthquakes and shadow fears be damned. I don't see why it couldn't be mustered again -- especially given the mounting economic and political pressure on the City to build denser and more vertical.

I don't think they will even have room in the city to build a building that tall unless they tear down some building. It will only be someplace in the downtown area.

I think that would have been an ugly building if it was built.
