It has the 3rd or 4th best skyline in America in my opinion. It is only behind NYC and Chicago for sure.

I like that they do not experiment and do everything in one style.

It is far from a perfect city. The city has a big homeless problem, shortage in housing given the demand, outrageous home prices where a lot of people are priced out of the area, and major traffic issues. Crime is up. And, this building doesn't have a observation deck. Lol! But, you can't take away the beauty of the city.

I agree, while San Francisco and the Bay Area are still my favorite place in the US, San Francisco continues to become unaffordable for anyone with a typical income, especially young families with kids. They have to move out not just because of housing and rent prices, but all other costs that rise with it. The city is turning into a premium playground for very high income people

181 freemont is a MASTERPIECE, but its being overshadowed by the height of this tower.

Wow I didnt even realize that, these are both blatantly influenced by Hong Kong.

Also, in terms of stylishness - The Bank of China Tower is a lot more superior. 181 Fremont building is lacking an architectural idea. It's just absent there, it shows a purely engineering design.

Exactly! Indeed, Transamerica Pyramid is designed in an iconic way, with all the corresponding architectural principles in mind. It's not gonna be a walk-in-the-park to make a more iconic design.

I think the lighting at the top of this tower will make it iconic in its own way. And even though it might not be as architecturally unique or region-specific like the Transamerica Pyramid, Salesforce already feels like it always belonged on the skyline. I can't help but speculate on the lighting schemes for 181 Fremont and the Oceanwide Center, if they are also lit up in an interesting way this cluster will be pretty unique for an American city.

181 Fremont looks nice, not sure where this hate is coming from.

Yeah it clearly took some design cues from bank of china (which i would look at as a compliment), and yeah it's shorter. But so what? It still looks good.

As for comparing salesforce to lotte tower, 1 IFC, etc, that's like comparing the chrysler tower to the empire state building. Yeah it has a similar shape and a spire, but it also has a different facade, different crown, and is shorter. And both towers look good. I guess i just don't agree with people who think a design is only good if it's 100% original. How many buildings even are a completely original design? Most things build off of knowledge we have and trends that are already going (not to mention something like an architect's personal style that they apply to everything).... it's how the human brain works.

How can you call my love a "hate"? It is a passion for a good and valid architecture, and when a "4" of an architectural edifice is compared to a "9" - I just can't say they're equal.
