There seems to be nothing in this thread about the transit terminal, since the subject of this section is tall towers, but some details can be gleaned from the jury report, which is available online.

the Pelli Tower is alright but nothing like SOM, the worst part is the Pelli Terminal is real awful. The SOM kind of resminds me of the SFO Terminal Design. I doubt Pelli's will ever get built.

I know that you have made this point earlier regarding the terminal (apart from the tower), but I don't know what your basis for it is. I can't find anything on the TransBay site giving any details, except for the analysis in the jury report, which gives specific reasons for prefering one plan over another. What, specifically, is wrong with the transit terminal part of the Pelli design, in your opinion, or where can I find an analysis of the terminal designs other than in the jury's report?

So dissapointing. SOM would have really made SF shine again....like when Transamerica was finished. SF is one of my favorite places in the world. I will be sad to see a building that looks like those of many other cities go up in its downtown

i am soo disappointed, why do we need a hong kong international financial center in san francisco? the building's design has NOTHING to do with san francisco's vibe, it pays no homage to the city's culture, it's totally generic, TOTALLY!!
o well, i guess by the time this carbon copy of 10 other skyscrapers is built i will be outta sf.

what is it with pelli??? why does he have to use the same shape so often?
IFC hong kong..goldman sachs NJ..that white building in downtown LA...even bank of america in Charlotte is this shape, with a nice crown.
It's classy, but SOM's design completely mopped the floor with it. SOM did an elbow-drop onto Pelli's design, twice, in one hour.

I do give a lot of credit to the Chicago spire. As for the WTC complex...it's...well it's big But I'm pretty sure I know where most of it's fame comes from, and its not from it's design...(which look very similar to the old WTCs, which have been called the most boring skyscrapers). So except for the Spire...please let me know of all of our engineering and architectural marvels, because I would definitely like to know.

No thanks. Chicago already has a very early-stage 90 story proposal (no renderings) from Pelli. And although I like his SF proposal, I definitely wouldnt mind seeing him take some risks here. For the record, I loved the SOM design as well. But if the Pelli proposal makes it through the obstacles, Im more than confident enough to say that it will be beautiful. Moving on...

LA could use SOM's building. And here is a perfect spot: Right across the street from Pelli's 777 Tower (White building)

I'm probably one of the few that like this building. I do think SOM's is better but I still like the Pelli design. One question.....will there be an observatory at the top?
