When Hines and Metlife went their separate ways, the financial backing of this project seemed in doubt, until now.

Boston Properties has signed onto the project to develop together with Hines. Both will have a 50% stake. The sale is expected to close in the first quarter of next year. More on the story from the SF Business Times.

Costanera center, Two financial center in Hong kong, Mori Towers in Tokio, all the same...but this new one in SF is more simple and aestethic I see

Yes, this one is more simple without setbacks and coves, but it has style.

I prefer the one in Hong Kong for its facade detail among those.

The green boxy buildings are not final designs of course, it's just to show proposed locations and height limits.
I count ... 22 green box structures in this photo??

I'd love for this project to get built, but I don't hold out any hope for it. San Francisco doesn't seem like it would be too welcoming towards a supertall. NIMBYs out the wazoo.

Oops, I thought the tower was approved, no? It says prep. If it is, what does it matter what people think now?

Agreed. It's gotten old. They look great on their own. But for those of us in the know, it's a tired design.

I also preefer the Hong Kong one, althoug I think this one doesn't have a detailed design yet.

But whatsoever, what I do like in this one for SF is that is more "pointy" that the others, So I think it combines very well with the Transamerica Pyramid. San Francisco would have two pointy towers sticking out of its skyline.

Not sure what you mean, it was approved by the planning department last October.

Furthermore, the money for the site is lined up with Hines and Boston Properties.

This building will be built.

I've got one querstion, did Pelli also design the Lotte Super Tower in Seoul? Cause it looks nearly identical to this building.
