The above photo is actually a picture of a portion of the Transbay Terminal, not the Salesforce tower. The Salesforce hole is now deeper than that hole.

I don't have any pics, but they apparently bottomed out a couple weeks ago (right around the time you made that post), and are pouring concrete now.

edit: Here's a the construction webcam, though it's not positioned very well for seeing the entire hole: http://oxblue.com/open/clarkconstruc...alesforcetower

And here's another rendering, because why not:

A few new renderings popped up at http://www.salesforcetower.com/:

Aerial View - I really wish they had included a more recent shot of downtown as it's missing about 10 major towers

Looking north - south of the ballpark

Looks like the statue may have been redesigned as well

Are there any skyscrapers fans in SF ? Nobody can go (sometimes - by the occasion) and make some updating pictures of the tower U/C ?

I Love SF so I keep checking on this. Last picture was June 13th, doubt it looks much different.

That's actually not the tower. That's the transit terminal which is adjacent.

Here's the tower's foundation hole (from its construction cam):

You can see the terminal foundation to its upper right.

Hole's getting deeper but it's hard to see or photograph other than from its cam. Should be about to the bottom but the resolution isn't good enough to really tell what's happening in the bottom. The gray color (rather than dirt brown) suggests to me they have bottomed out and poured some concrete of some sort (generally they put down a thin layer before they build a rebar cage on it for the actual slab). I walked by there a week or 2 ago and there was a concrete truck on site when I was there . . . but only one. Pouring the slab itself will take many hours and a fleet of trucks.

As I said just above, you can't really see anything--the action is below grade and surrounded by a solid fence that's pretty far from the hole. The only way to get much of an idea is the construction cam: http://www.salesforcetower.com/cam When viewing the cam, be careful. There's a lot of construction in the area: The Tower, the Terminal and, at the top, the construction of 181 Fremont (an 800 footer). The foundation hole for the Salesforce Tower is at the very bottom of the image.

There's a lot going on. There's a massive amount of equipment and a crowd of workers busy every day. But digging the foundation and especially pouring the 200+ ft. caisons (piers) to bedrock for a tower this tall on fill (former Bay bottom) in earthquake country takes time. I'm a pretty sure they finished the caisson work last winter and my guess above is the hole has gone as deep as it will. That means below ground construction should really get going now but as we've seen with 181 Fremont, it'll take another 6 months or more to get the below grade work done (the basement levels) and the building will start to rise where it will be easy to see.

I believe they still plan to finish it in 2017: 2.5 years or less. So they don't have time to waste.
