That is absolutely the most spectacularly wonderful bit of graffiti art I think I've ever seen. Forget the building.

But, oh well, back to the building: They said, I believe, they could do 2 floors a week and it seems that's what they are doing. Boston Properties wants the rent checks to start and Marc Benioff wants his new office in the sky.

I think the thing will be topped out and maybe even clad (or mostly clad) by the end of the year and that will give them most of 2017 to finish out the interior and open on schedule.

Oh ye non-believers on earlier pages . . . .

The core should be topped out, around 11/20/2016. They are averaging a floor every 4 days.

Are you really sure they are averaging a floor every 4 days? Doesn't seem like it.

Have you even noticed how fast the building is growing?

I don't know when that picture with the skeletonized bat graffiti was taken but I went down there today and the building is clearly several floors taller than that now. The core is now noticeably taller than the pink building to its left in that photo.

Specifically, it's been averaging a floor every 4.6 days since the beginning. Since they've taken a 15 day break (because they had to wait to raise the crane) back in 4/9/2016, they've been averaging exactly a floor every 4.0 days. They are really on a roll, now.

I think the core changes shape at floor 50, so add some potential delay to the projected top-off date above.

Plus two 3 day weekends for 4th of July and Labor Day...

And maybe a 4 day for Thanksgiving...

Re the video above: It gives you a nice flavor of the area and the current state of things. I think he's wrong about completion: I think both transit center and tower will be finished to all outside appearances, if not completely on the inside, by the end of next year (2017) and that was the target which no one has yet suggested they would miss. Since the tower is a private project of Boston Properties, which has stockholders with whom they are legally obligated to be honest, I think they would announce any delays.

The video says that not only transbay busses (to and from Oakland) and some city busses (several Muni--SF Municipal Railway--lines terminated at the old terminal) would use it but also Muni light rail and CalTrain. That is a little misleading. The Muni subway (light rail) has a stop about a block away and will be connected to the terminal by an underground passageway according to the original plans. But I haven't seen any evidence of building such a tunnel. The building under construction has 2 below-ground levels, the lowest of which is the platforms for CalTrain and, eventually, California High Speed Rail. However, the money for Phase 2 of the project--a tunnel into the building for CalTrain--is NOT in hand and the Mayor has now proposed bringing in the trains by a different route which would probably delay the project by several years. So beginning in 2018, San Francisco may have the world's most elaborate bus terminal and not much more--but it IS going to be a wonderful building and, after seeing how dense and crowded the streetscape will be I think the rooftop park will get more use than I initially thought.

One more thing: I wish people would cease this "west coast's tallest building" talk. As we all know, LA's Wilshire Grand will be taller counting its spire. The roof and crown in this building will be higher than WG's roof and crown. Other than skyscraper fanatics, I don't now anybody in SF who cares and the comparisons are silly.

I'm guessing the guy in the video isn't a skyscraper nerd like us. If he was, he would have stated the tower's height as 1,070', instead of "about 1,100'" , and he would also probably know of wilshire grand and that it will be taller (but like you said, other than skyscraper fanatics, who cares). Plus, when the salesforce tower was first proposed/approved, it was going to be the tallest tower on the west coast...can't really blame your average person for not being 100% up to date on these things.

Anyways, it was a cool video. And i agree that that the skeleton bat graffiti is awesome.

Its exciting to see a legitimate new tallest building go up in San Francisco. The design is quite nice too, which is a bonus.

I counted again today: 25 floors of steel, about 30 of concrete in the core. So the core is close to halfway to the roof (but not the top of the crown).

Not to quibble, but the 25th FLOOR is the ceiling of the 24th rooms so there are actually 25 FLOORS.

I'm a "glass half full" sort of person.

Hard to get an answer from anybody who really knows. The only people you can usually talk to are the flagmen and other bottom of the ladder sorts. I was down there last week and they literally closed the worksite gate in my face.

I just realized this tower is almost a replica of the "Gran Torre" in Santiago, Chile.
