thanks for sharing your photos. i really miss taipei a lot. it's still the same beautiful city. The only not so familiar sight for me is that new mitsukoshie building and those gays rallies and of course those banners asking Ah Bian to step down.

after having viewed your pics, i must confess that i didn't recognize the taipei that you try to recount with your pics. there are so many areas of this city that i've never visited...at my next stay, i'll try not to spend too many time in the same quarters.

good range of photos. would be nice to see more of the iconic landmarks such as the 101 and the bridges that connect to other cities.

Great pics. Some of my relatives visited Taipei recently and had very good things to say about it. I hope Taiwan's reunification with Mainland will come soon.

Taiwan/ROC IS an independent country, but as far as Taiwanese ALL supporting TI, I'd say speak for yourself, "buddy". All surveys I've seen reflect the fact that most Taiwanese are happy with the status quo.

Whoah you posted a lot of photos! Very nice!

What is happening in this picture? Does it have something to do with the closing of the gates of hell this month a couple of days ago? The character with the tongue sticking out is scary.

Cool to know that she is a Polish model
As, we discussed before in this forum, many Taiwanese see white ppl and simply call them American. In some of ur photos, we also see billboards of "美語"/American, which should actually be called "英語"/English.

See some 臭臭鍋 signs too

You photos always show every espect of Taiwan, so we can dig so many information about Taiwan. Thanx.

Taiwanese automatically assuming all white people to be "American" is no different than Americans automatically assuming all East/Southeast Asians to be "Chinese" or all Latinos to be "Mexican".

This kind of thing happens all over the world.

However, technically there is more of a merit for Taiwanese to assume all white people are Americans because Caucasian-Americans tend to have a large variation of European origin. There are Caucasian-Americans whose ancestors who were from Spain to Russia, England to Italy and many are mixed. I'm not saying it's right to assume all white people are Americans but considering the fact above, there is a good chance that a white person would be American.

It's the same with assuming all Latinos are Mexicans as majority of Latinos in the U.S. ARE Mexicans. However, I don't believe majority of East/Southeast Asians in the U.S. are Chinese. There is a great number of Filipino, Vietnamese and in some areas Korean population.

Actually I don't think that's wrong at all. These schools ARE teaching "American English" rather than "English English", there is a difference.
