Cool!

There is a following text on Adif page for Galicia HS line: The first section starts at the Madrid-Valladolid High-Speed Line in Olmedo (Valladolid Province), running parallel to the Adif test section until it reaches Medina del Campo, where a new railway station is to be built in the south of the town. The connection with the future Medina del Campo – Salamanca line will be made here.

Do you know if this is still true and if yes do they mean the line you just mentioned or some mythical new line very unlikely to be built?

No.

There will still be the Salamanca-Fuentes de Oñoro/Vilar Formoso section left to be electrified.

It shouldn´t be long though, till they announce that one too, they´re planning it too...

What's the point of the crossing loop before the last station? There are no freight facilities after it, so I suppose some passenger trains doesn't stop at Irun Ficoba, when they cross a stopping train.

Beside that, the platform at Hendaye is really narrow...

Trains don´t cross here anymore (not only they did in the past, but Irun Ficoba used to be terminus for some services), so the other platform was removed.

And somewhere in the back of my head I seem to remember seeing some freight at Irun Ficoba (but I don´t know wether still existing or not).

Anyway, in case of some trouble in France, it´s practical to have the crossing loop here, platform or not (Hendaye station is only a few meters away from Irun Ficoba station). It´s a bit silly to remember, but Irun Ficoba (formerly known as "Puente Internacional/Internazioarteko Zubia") is a border station.

It is, but not as much as it seems, I guess it´s a visual effect.

The only time I have used that train, I remember two people getting the train there (yeah, two people but it was the station less used).

It is just before the international bridge. Just after it (I think it was in 29:30 or so) you are in the middle of Bidasoa river and French-Spanish border.

It is just a commuter lane with a different gauge (different than international one and Spanish one).

What it is quite curious is that there aren't any facilities in Hendaye for passport control. Before Schengen I do not know how they would make controls.

Hendaye station is just in the same square that SNCF Hendaye station.

Possibly they were made at Hendaye Sncf station.

I´ve been controlled at Hendaye station by the Police Nationale.

It is just a quite small commuter station. In this link gate is under the light blue pannel

https://maps.google.es/maps?q=henday...48.16,,0,-1.46

As it can be seen, in front of main SNCF railway station but no possibility to link networks (and let's remember, different gauges) and there are no custom facilities. I do not know how they would make international controls but the only way is to set two officers in the gate and ask ID to anyone (it is the only French station so all the journeys would be international).

In this link we can see distance until next station and it is an international journey

https://maps.google.es/maps?q=henday...,+Francia&z=17

Third stop is not far from Irun central station (adif) and maybe easier to take.

This train (euskotrain) takes more time to arrive to St. Sebastian but has many more stations so can be more useful. They arrive to different points in the city so sometimes a passenger would take a Renfe train or an Euskotrain depending their destination within St. Sebastian.

Torralba-Soria line.
Almazán-Villa station.

Renovation works, consisting of replacing the old rails, sleepers, and ballast.
A simple look at the photos will tell you that the line is in very bad state.

Yes, but you know, the tracks at Almazán station, for instance.
I doubt they´ve ever been renovated. There´s no ballast!!

Barcelona-Vic-Ripoll-Puigcerdà/Latour-de-Carol (France) line.
Photos taken at Manlleu station and between Vic and Manlleu.

Here we can see some class 447 EMUs (which by the way are totally inadequate for the regional service), which currently are the only ones to serve these trains.

RARE VIDEO

Madrid Atocha-Móstoles El Soto line.
Las Águilas station.

A class 449 EMU passing Las Águilas station (in Madrid city) at low speed.
Regional rail rolling stock are not expected to be found here at all, since this is line C5, exclusive for commuter rail.

I don´t know what the hell was this train doing here, but I seem to remember having read about some rare maintenance at Móstoles-El Soto depot.
I´ll tell you more as soon as I get more info.
