Alicante-Benidorm-Denia line.

A class 2500 DMU, somewhere on the line. I suspect it´s not far from Calpe, but I´m not sure.

Between Miraflores and San Juan de Mozarrifar stations.

A class 252 loco pulling a Talgo III trainset, crossing river Ebro near Miraflores station in Zaragoza.
Behind, we can spot the construction works of the Zaragoza-Huesca HSL.

The TER 597.010 DMU is being moved from Valladolid to Lleida (via Logroño), where it will be restored and become the star of a new touristic train in Madrid.

On another post, we already saw it Valladolid-Campo Grande, Cabezón de Pisuerga and Dueñas station.

Now we see it at Cenicero station, on the Bilbao-Miranda de Ebro-Logroño-Castejón-Zaragoza classic line:

Barcelona-Martorell-Manresa line.
Sant Boi station.

On this narrow gauge line, ran by FGC and mostly used by commuter trains, we can also see some freight, mostly carrying salt or cars.

On the second picture on the post above, you´ve seen a class 255 ex-Euskotren dual loco.

They use the catenary between Sant Boi and Martorell-Enllaç (or Manresa-Alta) on the down track, and between Martorell-Enllaç (or Manresa-Alta) and Molí Nou-Ciutat Cooperativa on the up track.

But between Sant Boi and the Barcelona port, the line is not electrified, so they have to change the mode from diesel to electric or vice-versa, and they have to do it at the pannels.

Here, at Sant Boi station, you can tell three pannels on the direction of Martorell, on the first picture it is on the left track, in hindsight, behind the "60". They mean "raise pantograph" in this case:

I always find curious that some variants of class 269 locomotives have been numbered 279, 289 and even 299, while rebuilt class 333 units remained with the same number (see here), even if aesthetically and technically the 269/279/289 seems much more similar between them than an original 333 and an heavily rebuilt unit of the same series.

Generally speaking, for some time the 269 and 333 locos have been the most common, or at least famous, electric and diesel locomotives families in Spain (like the Re 4/4 in Switzerland and the various nez cassée in France).

Anyway, thanks 437.001 for reporting the posts I haven't time to read in the Spanish forum...

Class 279 and 289 locos are NOT variants of class 269. They just look similar, like class 446 and 447 EMUs do.
If anything, it´s the other way around, since class 279 and 289 are older than class 269.
Class 279 were the first, then came class 289, and finally class 269.
Class 279 and 289 were bitension (1,5kV/3kV), while class 269 isn´t (only 3kV).
Their power and speed were different too.
Class 279 don´t run anymore, while a few class 289 still do, and a big bunch of class 269 of course still do too.

Btw, I can´t remember any loco numbered in class 299 (but if such a thing ever happened, it was ephemeral).

Thank you. The 299 were modified 269.200 locos, and had their number in the 299 series only for a few months, before being renumbered again as 269.950.

Pinto-San Martín de la Vega line.

The line was closed. Now they´re dismantling the signalling and catenary.
A shame, since it was part of the commuter rail network of Madrid (Cercanías Renfe).
But since day one, Renfe didn´t care about it, giving it a bad service, without any direct train to Madrid, you had to change at Pinto. And although San Martín de la Vega is not that small at all, the bad service didn´t attract passengers, the ridership was very low, so it ended up closing. Let´s hope it´s not permanent.

It´s the second time that a line serving San Martín de la Vega closes, the first one was the narrow gauge line from Ciempozuelos to Torrejón de Ardoz via La Poveda in the 1960s, iirc.

Pictures from October 2013:

Murcia-Lorca-Almendricos-Águilas line.
Totana station.

It´s part of the Alicante & Murcia Cercanías Renfe commuter network (line C2).
But it also gets long distance and international service, a Talgo to/from Barcelona and to (but not from!) Montpellier, and also a weekend service from Madrid to Águilas on Fridays and from Águilas to Madrid on Sundays.

The commuter service is run by class 592 DMUs.

In Barcelona's port there are even triple gauge tracks, also with switches, but in the photo I saw one of them (I don't remember which one) out of use (not linked to other tracks of the same gauge).
