Such a big development.

Sorry to say but the Venice part looks tacky at best. Should have just built local style architecture, as the result looks awkward and less than ideal.

Impressive work overall though.

It is funny that with all this immense amount of money how high the quality of architecture in the Gulf countries could be, and yet it is not. Another nice example of how good taste cannot be bought.

So true.. I also think the same.. But Dubai is a bit different for me.. They have such incredible and modern buildings as well as Abu Dhabi is beginning to develop the business and lesure sector as well, they have nice buildings,.. but Qatar being the richest country in the world, thanks to Oil and Gas.. They don't have any good taste creating buildings or Malls..

I can't understand why they build a town copying a style instead of create a new one with arabic inspiration... It seems they don't love their own culture...

anyway, the projects seems nice, but obviously still looking like a theme park, no like a real city or a place in the future to take seriously...

Qatar has a more mature and careful approach when it comes to developments, Qatar only builds what is necessary according to demand, not very much plastic like Dubai, or in other words, sustainable development is pursued. If you have some time visit the Qatar forums and you will discover how Qatari, Arabic and Islamic culture and tradition is highly promoted in the state, for example the Islamic Museum. When it comes to the GCC, most people are more familiar with Dubai and stick to it without having a good look at the other cities and countries in the region.
When it comes to opinions, everyone is entitled to have their say. I've done a poll thread a few years ago found in the Skybar to which Gulf artificial island people preferred by design and the Pearl Qatar came with the highest votes.
