They should start lighting the tower at night

Has anybody found out what that shower thing works for?

Agree 100% they should light it up, it would look amazing!

The shower thing is a special device that acts as a shower head and washes the cladding, instead of cleaners ... lol j/k

Mayb communications like a dish or an antena?

Shadow|Reaper, you are correct. The "shower thing" is a building maintenance unit. It is used to clean the glass.

And the lighting should come soon, but probably not this month. Since the hotel opens in April we may begin to see lighting in March.

So I guess that the horrible announcement on the building should be off by march-april.

I am not so certain about that. Large signs have been up on other buildings (21st Century Tower and Nuaimi Tower) even though they have been in-use for more than a year. And since the signs are not noticeable from the inside, there is no big need to take them down.

But those other towers are residential, while this is a Hotel Tower and being a commercial activity, the ad sign on currently on the tower, will shadow the hotel's operator insignia, so I doubt the sign (even if it is of the building's owners) will remain when the hotel will open and be operational.

Dubai hotel is world's tallest
United Arab Emirates: 9 hours, 49 minutes ago
The Rose Rotana Tower in Dubai was the tallest building completed in 2007, according to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). The hotel tops the organization's annual list, which only includes buildings that were completed during the last year and were 'at least partially occupied' or 'open for business'. The Rose Rotana, which stands 333m high and has 72 storeys, also claims to be the world's tallest single use hotel building.

Pentominium is all residential and was meant to be the worlds tallest residential building until chicago spire popped out, so it will probably be the second tallest when completed.

Does this building have two spires or just one? Is the building even designed to have two spires? The building is designed to have only one spire above that ball on the top of the building.

Just one spire. That thing coming out of the top is retractable...I think we figured out it was for cleaning equipment if I remember correctly.

So basically this building is variable height, isn't it? I mean, it is a bit taller when the shower head is raised, what do you guys think?

That shouldn't be counted, cause it is a temporary structure. If you put a 10m high flag on the top of a building it won't raise the height of the building...
