It's rare for flowers to be coming up in February, but with the mild winter that we've had, we appear to be maybe a month ahead of schedule. I saw these daffodils in front of a neighborhood in Pike Creek last week.

Glad to hear that you still look at this thread. I've seen the New Castle County flag enough at county buildings to know what it looks like, but I have not seen it fly at a private residence.

The Wilmington Friends Meeting House, on West Street in Wilmington. The Quaker meetinghouse was built in 1817 and is the namesake of the Quaker Hill neighborhood. Abolitionist Thomas Garrett, and signer of the U.S. Constitution John Dickinson are buried in the surrounding cemetery.

Only two slave dwellings exist in the state of Delaware. One of these two dwellings is at the Ross Mansion in Seaford. The house was built in 1855 and housed 14 slaves in its 16' x 24' space.

The other slave quarters in Delaware is located at the Causey Mansion, at Walnut Street & Causey Avenue in South Milford. The house was built in 1763 by Levin Crapper. It was later owned by two Delaware governors, Daniel Rogers and Peter Causey. Behind the house, slave quarters dating to 1806 still stand.

In the center of Battery Park, Delaware City, is a diving bell. The bell was used as an air chamber to allow workers to make repairs underwater on the locks of the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal. Dating back to 1839, the bell was in use off and on until the canal was converted to sea level in 1927.

The Hoopes Reservoir Dam, on Barley Mill Road near Mount Cuba. The dam was built in 1932 on Mill Stream, which was the site of an old mill dating to 1732 that T. Coleman duPont had converted into an estate in 1908. The reservoir supplies water to the City of Wilmington.

An extra day of the year means an extra-wide picture, with just a little bit more to see. This scene is of The Green in Dover. The Green was the colonial core of the city, centered with the state house, seen on the right. The Old State House was built in 1792, after the state capital moved to Dover from New Castle in 1777, and functioned as the capitol until a new one was built in 1932.

There are few neighborhoods in Delaware with a daring look to them. Delwood, off of Weldni Road in Brandywine Hundred, is one of them. The 1941 neighborhood features homes in a modernist style.

Colburn Laboratory, on Academy Street in Newark, has a nice touch of artistry along the exterior. In between basement windows, engineering material is shown in concrete. Here, the Chiltonand Colburn J-factor analogy on heat and mass transfer is shown.
