Hello guys,

i plan to go next week in Montenegro and Dubrovnik after. I am from Romania and i plan to travel back from Dubrovnik to Trebinje-Gorazde-Uzice.
Could someone tell me how is the road from Dubrovnik to Uzice thru the mentioned way ?

Last year i enjoyed driving thru Mostar-Sarajevo-Bosanski Samak-Beograd but this year i would like to take the short way (and a different way, why not?)

Any quick and useful info is apreciated !

Adrian

Hi Adrian!
I've been on Cemerno-Uzice section and all parts of this route were at least 'driveable'.There were some works in Sutjeska canyon, but landscape there is absolutely fabulous so you won't even notice them. But landscape is fabulous everywhere on this route.Don't forget to visit Sutjeska battle monument and Visegrad bridge in Bosnia and ride the beautiful narrow gauge train in Mokra Gora, first village in Serbia.Have a nice trip!
P.S.
Here you will find some photos of the roads there(from photo 43 to 51):

If you want more information, please PM me(you can do this in Romanian).

There are some good news: on 17 Sept (2009) at the joint government meeting of Hungary and Croatia two relevant and important issues were decided:

"After the session, the two prime ministers signed a joint letter to the president of the European Commission supporting the construction of a Corridor Vc section in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Relevant ministers signed an agreement between the two governments on a highway junction between Branjin Vrh and Ivandarda"

About the later the Hungarian press reported that the connection shall be ready by 2013.

Toll plaza in Podlugovi, the one in Kakanj and Visoko are almost finished.

The opening of the Highway between Dobrinje and Kakanj(9,3km) will be at the end of this month.

I intend to travel from Mostar to Zagreb next April and I was wondering what the best route would be. I read through this thread, but I'm not sure: is there a finished motorway between Sarajevo and Slavonski Brod, or between Sarajevo and Banja Luka? Also, is there likely to be snow in early April? I would be very grateful for any information.
Thank you,
Sandra

Hi!

There is definitely not going to be a motorway finished through all of that stretch by April. I do not know if there will be a motorway finished between Sarajevo and Zenica, it depends on the tunnel that is being built there between. The rest is a country road.

As for a route to Slavonski Brod, there is an expressway being built from Sarajevo to Tuzla, and from there there is a (relatively recently rebuilt) country road northward. If this expressway is not finished, this is almost certainly the slower route, because the country road there (that is the part being replaced with an expressway) is curvy and changes a lot in altitude as well.

But again, it is difficult to say, because both routes (or the upgrading of them rather) happen to be under construction. Maybe someone else can give you more information, but the safest thing would be to check later on, unless you need to decide early.

My advice would be to check on the status of the expressway towards Tuzla.

Have a great trip .

P.S. Welcome to SSC.

Thank you for your answer (and for the friendly welcome to the board). I will definitely wait until next year before I decide on the best route then. Cheers, Sandra

sandra_lux1, best way is mostar - sarejevo, highway from sarajevo to kakanj or where it should end when you will travel, and then furthure north via bosnian M-17. On M-17 follow direction Bosanski (or Srpski) Brod. Pass border, and you will be in Slavonski Brod. Just follow green signs to reach motorway to Zagreb. It's not the shortest, but most pleasant and fastest route.

Koridor Vc - Lot1-2

Evo i malo slika sjevernog kraka koridora (Zenica-Svilaj).
Ono sto je interesantno na ovoj trasi je prakticno nedostatak izlaza (petlje) kod Zepca i "viska" izlaz sjeverno od Doboja, te napustanje danasnje trase izmedju Zepca i Doboja.

the shortest and the fastest route is Mostar - Jablanica - G. Vakuf - Bugojno - Jajce - Banja Luka - Gradiska - Zagreb.

Mostar - Sarajevo -Slavonski Brod - Zagreb is d-tour, longer, more expensive and bad decision.

I think that the best route would be from Mostar through Široki Brijeg to Vrgorac in Croatia, and from there (Ravča near Vrgorac) is a motorway (Croatian A1) to Zagreb. The distances are: about 60 km common road from Mostar to Vrgorac (Ravča) and about 450 km motorway from Vrgorac (Ravča) to Zagreb.

I agree. Go directly to croatian A1 which goes all the way to Zagreb. Its about 60 km longer route but its more pleasant trip...
