Bypass Zenica

From Kakanj to Zenica, the route will leave the Bosna valley and go through a tunnel called Vijenac to the southern entrance of Zenica. From there, the route will climb up the hills east of Zenica and will pass above Zenica at about 1-2 km distance to the north-east.

END OF APRIL START ON KAKANJ BILJEŠEVO

Start construction of the highway Kakanj-Bilješevo on Corridor 5-C is expected in late April. Director of highway Federation Erdal Trhulj said that the entire procedure was completed and that the most favorable bidder consortium Viaduct Zagreb and Hering Siroki Brijeg yesterday submitted a bank guarantee in accordance with the tender conditions in the amount of 4.3 million euros. This is a guarantee for good performance, which was a condition for signing the contract.

Directorate of the Federal highway agency closed the procedure about obtaining a building permit and it will be presented to contractors when signing the contract, which is expected early next week.

This part of the highway Kakanj-Bilješevo is 9.5 km long and it is very difficult to build.

The works include among others the construction of the highway, new tapes, the reconstruction of the existing road, raising the bar higher level and build a new regional road Kakanj-Bilješevo. The plan envisages the construction of the junction Bilješevu and construction of a billing station with six passes.

The deadline for the work on a part-Kakanj Bilješevo is 18 months.

As this motorway will cross the Croatian border at Gradiška, are there plans for a Croatian extension to A3? It's less than 10 kilometers.

Yes, here it is:

On the left is Croatian A3 (and small existed part of connection tu Novi Varoš village, up to violet coloured service zone, on the road to Stara Gradiška on the Croatian side of the river and Bosanska Gradiška on Bosnian side). On the right is position of future border cross (orange) and bridge over Sava river.

But I think that the start of the constriction of Croatian side depend of the deal with simultaneous start of the construction on northern part of E5.

The Federal Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina signed today a contract to build on the Corridor VC highway, section Kakanj - Drivuša, and the subsection Kakanj-Bilješevo.
The value of this contract is slightly greater than 43 million euros, and the deadline for the works is 18 months.

It has been also signed an agreement on supervision for construction works.
The winner of tender for construction supervision was Inoksa igeneria from Madrid, the value of the contract is a million and 322,000 euros.

Agreement on behalf of the Government of the Federation was signed by the director of the Federal Directorate for the construction, operation and maintenance of highways Erdal Trhulj on behalf of the Contractor Joint Venture - Viadukt Inc. Zagreb and Hering d.o.o. Siroki Brijeg, CEO Viadukt Josko Mikulic.

Five new bridges

Federal Minister Mustafa Mujezinovic was pleased about the beginning of these works, pointing out that the highway will be built within length of 9.35 kilometers. Two lanes and emergency lane running like new, and the other two bands are the reconstruction of existing highway M17. Construction of the new track regional road R-445 in a length of 9.5 km, as an alternative route. This will be done and the reconstruction of local roads in length of 3.60 kilometers, five new bridges and reconstruction of three existing bridges.

It will be built is also additional three new bridges on the regional road R-445, and one new bridge on the regional road - Ticic landslide will be repaired , the Toll Collection center Lučani with five toll points, junction Lučani and all facilities at the route will be complete with all installations, water supply, sewerage, electricity and optical cables.

- This contract is one of a whole series of major contracts which will be signed during this year and early next year from kovote loans that was agreed with two European banks and the Kuwait Fund in excess of 500 million euros. This is the first of a series of loans. This represents a unique milestone in the construction of Corridor Vc for several reasons.

First, all we have now build on this section we have built from their own funds or from the budget of the Federation. Unfortunately, in the near future we can expect that the building is funded from the budget in a significant amount, so we are forced to turn to other sources of funds. Everything else we have built a lighter part of the route of the Corridor Vc, so we had a mile cheaper than the mileage that we build.

They come to us technically demanding and expensive stocks and as more building Corridor Vc everything will be more expensive stocks. Thirdly and most importantly we will credit spending of these funds to gain confidence again European banks, funds and other lenders who are in the business found their interest - said ŠEĆKANOVIĆ.

The good news for international investors

Start of two phases of construction

Erdal Trhulj made a reference to intensify construction of the motorway on Corridor Vc, as well as other highways in the Federation.

- Signing this agreement we conclude the first phase, which began in February 2007. Many of these are assessed as too promising that we will provide loans. After three years we know what has been done. We introduced the tolls and the revenues are far higher than we expected. We also introduced excise duties on petroleum products as a stable financial income. We count on international institutions to provide about 800 million KM of credit, and now we ensured even about one billion marks.

So we have created a stable finacial construction and we will have the largest number of sites in the second phase of construction corridor. At the start of construction in 2006 we built three kilometers a year, and after this twice as many miles per year. This year it remains to form and to introduce a closed system of toll collection, which will be completed by the end of August 2010.

He added that the signing of this agreement opens the first site and probably for a month shall be open to another new site worth 55 million euros, and at least in early August and it will open a third site.
He also mentioned the construction of Sarajevo Bypass, which will contribute to opening four to five sites that will work in parallel.
In May expropriation begins in the south of the municipalities of Ljubuski and Čapljina.
By the end of July expropriations are going to begin in Ilidža, Kiseljak, Tarcin and thus prepare this shares. Prequalification for these tenders will start mid-year, so that in spring 2011 will be opened eight sites.

The aim is that by the end of 2013 complete construction of 65 km highway are completed.

And funds were provided by the Kuwait Fund for Zenica ring road and so we will have approximately 120 kilometers of the highway in end 2013.

This would complete the second phase and thus achieve the result of building about 13 km highway a year

In the third phase moves into more intensive construction and will then introduce the work to the private sector and the strategy of private and public partnerships for the Corridor Vc.

We must invest in our own resources, as they reached this year 120 million marks. The Federal Directorate increases the number of employees this year up to 52 for the collection,sSo that they will this and in the next year ensure quality service - sait Trhulj

Will this short motorway without emergency lanes be a part of the Vc Corridor, and if yes, will it be added emergecy lanes?

Actually it is not a motorway but an expressway or western approach, it is the western entrance into the city, and gives access to western part of the city. Also it is not part of 5c corridor, but will connect through a intersection i Vlakovo which links up at the start of the photos above.

You can see here the correct designation

How old is that picture? I know it used to be an expressway (motorroad), but I'm also sure I've seen a motorway sign on it, and you can see a green direction sign on one of the pictures above.

The picture was taken in june 2010. The green signs that you see were placed in 99-2000 for election reasons because at that time there were no motorways in BiH (and will probably stay there until the bypass is finished and some major reconstruction happens). But it was always designated a "gradski autoput/ brzi put(hitri ako ti je lakse)". ONLY when it was OPENED was it considered (for political purposes) a motorway not after, you have your time frame mixed up.
But all this has been explained to you in the past but you seem to obsess with the original markings.
