The roads in B-H are unbelievable. Last time I visited the country was 15 years ago and none of this existed. I'm really surprised at the level of commitment these people have and who have made some nice, modern motorways with excellent standards, considering that they went through that bloody war.

I'm not sure when (and if) there would be the next time I visit Bosnia but it looks completely different to when I was there. Good onya guys.

Also, I must add that I love the old rock music that the people used to listen to from the pre-war times and I too still listen to it from time to time.

That is a busy construction place. And pace of building seems to be very fast. Will be opened still this year? Currently this section ends nowhere, am I right?

The section Bijača- Kravice connects a regional road and the border crossing that has to be built. So, it still ends nowhere.

Although, it will be connected to croatian A10 on its southern end at the border crossing. As you can see, A10 is being built on our side, it only lacks connection with A1 (cca 5,5 km), but that's not far away

Croats from both side of the borders didn't finish neither border crossing nor motorway. Too bad but mwy is ending no where, so many priorities and they start from nowhere and go to nowhere. But that's the Balkan.

E-661

Works on the Mahovljani interchange are nearing completion. Once finished in summer 2012, the interchange will link two sections of E-661 already open for traffic (Glamočani-Mahovljani, April 2011, and Mahovljani-Čatrnja, November 2011).

Hello!
Coming from direction of Zagreb, which would be the fastest way to go to Sarajevo? Through the E661 or via the E73?
Which parts of the route is a motorway/dual carriageway?
Thanks!

E73. road is much more straight than curvy E661. but E661 has nicer surroundings
motorway is between Kakanj and Sarajevo

If you take E661 in mid-July - when Mahovljani interchange should be open, the highway would take you from Croatia/BiH border near Sava river to Banja Luka, where the beautiful surroundings part starts...

Tip: Would not be bad to follow information on the border crossings just before the trip: Croatia/English, BiH/Local, RS/Local. Time that you have to wait at different border crossings can vary substantially, so getting faster from A to B in the summer practically comes down to waiting less at the border...

Thanks a lot x-type and BNX for your help!
What I didn't mention is that I'm planning to do this trip in September, so the Mahovljani I/C will be complete by then.
I think I will prefer the E661 for it's nicer surroundings.
Any rough idea on the time needed from Banja Luka to Sarajevo?
Hvala!
