Highway Banja Luka - Doboj Section 2: Prnjavor - Doboj. Construction of the interchange Johovac I, which - once open in 2015 - will channel all highway traffic to/from the M-17 road. Of course, until completion of adjoining sections of the A-1 across the Bosna river.

What's the best option to drive from Mostar to Ston, Croatia (on a Saturday in May)?
http://goo.gl/maps/xyLaE

Also from Croatian A1 to Ston (on a Friday in May)?
- coast road and 2 border checks at Neum -> http://goo.gl/maps/hghbv
- Croatian A10 to BiH and crossing back to HR at Duzi -> http://goo.gl/maps/cAo7N

I'm planning to drive on a Friday in May, from Trogir stay over night in Mostar, but also visit Ston.
The next 2 nights, Saturday-Monday I'm planning to stay in Cavtat and visit Dubrovnik.

I'm still not sure if:
- to drive first to Ston, visit the wall, then head to Mostar, on Friday, if I arrive to late in Mostar for some things, I can do them next morning before leaving to Cavtat
- drive to Mostar on Friday, stay over night, head to Ston to visit the wall on Saturday, this way I will have much time for Mostar

I recommend the coastal road and two border checks near Neum for both trips. The back road to Neum is not is a good shape and will take much longer.

Additionally, I am not sure, but I think there is a ferry alternative that will let you avoid the two border crossing near Neum. One I know for sure is Ploce-Trpanj, but I know that Croatia announced that they would add another ferry in place of the future bridge near Neum. I am not sure whether that is in place.

Ploce-Trpanj is certainly in place, although I'm not convinced that it makes sense. Reports from last summer after Croatia joined the EU suggest that the there's no real trouble at Neum.

Can you post a link in Google Maps with your recommendation?

Do you get a BiH passport stamp when crossing into Neum?
I would like to get one

There is no real trouble in high season, true. However outside summer season foreigners can be inspected quite often, also you need green insurance card for BiH. Without that don't go over Neum.

Sure, just ask the police officer for one if he/she doesn't give it to you in the first place

Forget it, the BiH-police (if there is anyone there anyway ) does not check passports. I wonder why they built some space for BiH police anyway

Not when I was there: I've crossed tne neum-borders several times last summer (in June, Croatia wasn't EU-member yet at that moment), but BiH-police, if anyone was there anyway, was not interested in any passport.

They have a shared facility now at both checkpoints, but the word is that the BiH police are still absolutely uninterested in most people.

As I said that is true in summer, however outside tourist season (I was there in October) Bosnian police can be very interested in foreigners (non-HR and -BiH citizens).

In June they were only a bit interested when I entered BiH at Doljani border crossing (green card, passport), not at the Neum-crossings en not at the exit at Ivanica (just a quick view on the passports and that wasit . The only one really interested in me was the police on the M6 in Ljubinje who fined me with 50 Euros because I had no towing equipment in my car

Towing equipment?
I think they were just fishing for unlucky "tourists" to "fine"...

I was driving in a car with Croatian licenceplates, so they couldn't see directly that I was tourist. But that changed as soon as they saw my Dutch drivers licence

Was that an official fine, did you receive a receipt? Or did you just hand over the money and they let you go? Something like that happened to me in Serbia some years ago
