Hey fellows!
Could you please tell me about the progress of the Sava river bridge that will provide another link to Croatia?
I haven't read about it lately and i would like to know some more things about it.
Thanks!

Sorry, no idea! But could be possible since GoogleMaps as well as OpenStreetMaps don't have a name for that bridge.

Preliminary agreement for the Banja Luka – Mliništa highway signed

Quote:
The Public Enterprise "Highways of the Republic of Srpska" and the Chinese construction company "Sinohidro" signed a preliminary agreement on the design and construction of the highway Banja Luka - Mliništa, section Glamočani – AVNOJ road, in length of 62 kilometers and worth 600 million euros.

The document was signed today in Banja Luka by Director General of "Higways RS" Dušan Topić and Deputy Director of the Chinese construction company "Sinohidro Corporation" for Eurasia Yang Fan. The signing was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović and President of the National Assembly of the RS Nedeljko Čubrilović.

Topić said that the total length of the road is 93 kilometers, and that the Chinese partners are interested in the first section - the direction from Glamočani to AVNOJ road.

"It is anticipated that the highway route leades from the Glamočani node along the Manača plateau, and then further westwards to Mrkonjić Grad to settlement Baraći, and then to the border with the Federation BiH. The route is marked in the Spatial Plan of the Republic of Srpska," Topić told reporters after signing of the Preliminary Agreement.

He noted that also FBiH and Croatia are interested in the realization of the highway construction, as the Glamočani – Mliništa highway should run in the foreseeable future through the Livno Canton, to Split in Croatia, thus creating the shortest and fastest road link between Central Dalmatia and Central Europe.

Topić stressed that China has provided the funding, i.e. special favorable credit arrangements to finance infrastructure projects in SEE countries.

"Based on the preliminary agreement, the Chinese partners would in the next six months complete the preparation of the study and project documentation, necessary for the start of the final negotiations on the credit arrangement," said Topić.

Fan said that the "Sinohidro Corporation" is one of the world's leading companies in the realization of infrastructure and energy projects.

"The signing of the Preliminary Agreement is a good start to a successful cooperation with the institutions of the Republic of Srpska. We want to contribute to the social and economic development of the RS," said Fan.

Has the BiH Federation, or Croatia expressed any interest in completing their sections? This route does not offer a much faster alternative than the Zagreb-Spilt motorway.

No not so far

edit actualy it says here that Federal road company CEO attended the presentation of this highway and expressed support for the project but nothing seriously has been done in Federation considering the highway

This could be an alternative route between Banjaluka and Zenica (and Sarajevo) to Banjaluka-Doboj highway if it would be constructed via Bugojno.

That's the plan of JP Autoceste FBiH:

Source: http://jpautoceste.gmapa.ba/en/20110...y-of-motorways

As you can see Federation isn't planning a motorway there and vice verse Republika Sprska isn't planning an east-west expressway from Jalce to Bihac through their territory as well... Perhaps that could be the point of finding a compromise...

More like "we will build your motorway if you build our expressway" Anyway, we are many, many years away from building anything there

Yes. The compromise there is so obvious. Jajce-Bihac through Banjaluka and Prijedor and Banjaluka-Split through Jajce and Bugojno. However, compromise was a dirty word in Bosnia for some time now. Perhaps a future government may change that.

I askde the same question in "Republika Srpska Motorways • Auto-putevi" tread, but I retry the same question here:

What is the best road from Banja Luka to Sarajevo? I`m going to driving there on next Monday. GM says to take the followng roads: M4 -> R413 -> M5 -> M17 -> A1. I`m really worried about R414, especially during winter. Is this paved road all way? I`m asking because I`ve drove once with R473 or R474 and one of them hasn`t paved all the way.
