Shanghai Metro
Just wondering but is the extension of the No. 2 Subway Line in Shanghai completed? Last time I heard, they were constructing an extension west to Hongqiao Airport.

financial problems slowed the extension.
the no 2 line(regional line r2) is designed to eventually link the two airports in shanghai. it is the main east-west subway line. below r the different phases of the construction of line 2 phase 1 (finished): from zhongshan park to longyangroad. all underground phase 2 (finished): a one stop extension east to zhangjiang hi-tech park. elevated phase 3 (due complete by 2006) : a 4 stop extension westwards to hongqiao airport. phase 4 (open in 2007): to chuansha and pudong int'l airport(pvg). mostly above ground |

Shanghai Metro Maps - Post all you can find (current, old, planned lines etc.)
I want to use this thread to collect all the maps of the Shanghai metro system (current, old, planned lines, future maps etc.) that exists on the internet to date. Just to get an idea of how the future system actually will look.
It seems like no one really knows this! ![]() These are the ones that I have found: From the official website (www.shtmetro.com) - obviously outdated: ![]() From www.urbanrail.net - seems to be up to date with the extensions of the Lines 2 and 3, and the station name changes on Line 2: ![]() A future map that shows 4 new lines. Could those be the lines that are currently nearly finished but not yet in operation? ![]() A future map that shows metro lines (2006-2012): ![]() A future map that seems to show all the transit lines in Shanghai municipality: ![]() Another future map that shows tons of lines: ![]() Another map that is chopped off at the edges, plus the lines have totally different colours than what we'e used to. Kinda nice style to it though. :![]() Future map showing 9 lines: ![]() Old map where even the ring line is marked as "planned": ![]() More future maps: ![]() ![]() Come on people! I want more! ![]() I'm especially interested in what can be found on Chinese websites, which are hard for me to browse due to my little knowledge in the written Chinese language.

Hongqiao will become a super-hub with three metro lines, the maglev, the airport and the long distance rail.

I 'm afraid most shanghai future metro maps above are out of date, because they are always changing as the constructions going on.And actually, shanghai
's planned metro lines are much much more than we expected. ![]() metro lines and meglev line in the Expo area: ![]() Hongqiao area: ![]() Minghang district(red line:metro; blue line:maglev) ![]() Qingpu New Town(green line) ![]() Fengxian district(red line)

But one or several years later, when shanghai launch some more "New Town" or new large project(like Hongqiao and Lingang, they didnt exist on planning map in 2000,so are the metro lines around them),who knows whether it's outdated?
In China, how a city will look like dosen't depend on urben planner but the party boss,so after Chen Liangyu, many planning maps and to-be-built projects have been changed to be a "?".

http://unn.people.com.cn/GB/14748/6709783.html
Last edited by martin9war; December 30th, 2007 at 06:48 PM. |
