I must say I'm impressed by Iranian highways. The "FOX Effect" is not confined to just that one network, though - ABC, NBC and CBS also portray Iran as being a very repressive regime that is far behind modern advancements such as these highways.

However, i get the idea that drivers can be unpredictable and a bit dangerous from this image:

The drivers seem to not have the slightest care about staying in the center of the lane and they appear to be drifting all over the place.

Are you kidding? They look no worse than the idiot drivers I see here in Miami-Dade, on a daily basis.

I been to Iran 5 years ago, and drivers there are far worse than anything I seen in the US.

Wow, never imagined Iran was going to be this nice and developed.
This is cool. We should put all hostility and hatred behind and learn to mutually respect each other and give peace to our citizens.

It's a discussion on the perceptions of people of Iran; many think it's a backwater, undeveloped and are surprised to see such highways and infrastructure. It was politics and mass media that essentially shoved that perception down their throat, thus the talk about politics and how reality is colorful.

Also, no need to play the armchair moderator.

I thought this thread was about Iranian roads, not politics.

This thread is indeed about Iranian motorways So let's stick to that. I'm sure there are plenty of other topics about Iran and it's development.

That's not a highway.

That "highway" lacks a propper entrance/exit.

It's a highway, but not a motorway.

It's an impressive piece of road though....

Such entrances are common on many "motorways" throughout the world, especially in urban areas.

Yeah, take MKAD as the best example. That's why usually noone is using the rightmost lane except to exit/enter the road.

It makes me think of pics from the Albanian thread: narrow lanes and those entrances.

you call these lanes narrow? I dont think we have such wide lanes anywhere in Europe. And thank good, such a waste of space!

This 4 lane highway could easily be turned into 6 lanes plus shoulders, no wonder no one seems to respect the lane markings.
