SINGAPORE | Reflections at Keppel Bay | Com

Iconic condo development promises to put Singapore waterfront living on world map

3 Jan 07

SINGAPORE: Keppel Land mixes business and art for the first time as it unveils its latest Keppel Bay residential development called Reflections.

The waterfront project is designed by architect Daniel Libeskind, who counts among his works the Jewish Museum Berlin and the masterplan for the New York World Trade Centre site.

The development, which is the largest in the west side of town, is expected to put a new face to world-class waterfront living.

Reflections features six glass towers and 11 villa apartment blocks totalling some 1100 units.

The project incorporates signatures of the famed architect, including use of materials like steel and titanium to reflect modern sensibilities, as well as use of other motifs like splits, criss-crossing lines and curves evocative of the natural environment.

Pending favourable market conditions, Keppel Land expects to launch up to 500 units as soon as March.

The project is slated for completion by 2011.

I love it, it looks very natural. Does that render show the actual setting or is it more urban?

The project will be sited on the plot labelled 'Keppel Bay phase 2'. The background in those renders would be the hill of Mount Faber & the Southern Ridges of Singapore.

The taller towers are 41-storeys.

To me, it kind of resembles bean sprouts/shoots with its green leafy top, responding to sunlight.

i usually don't like any kinds of curves or distortions in towers (e.g. malmo tower, dancing towers etc) but these are fantastic!

They do have a certain organic quality to them but from those two renderings I'm not overwhelmed by what I see. Perhaps more renderings and some closer up images?

Anyone know the concept of the design? And the buildings look too near with the ship yard, will it connected?

Keppel Bay condo could cost up to $2,000 psf

4 Jan 07

From the Straits Times:

"KEPPEL Group hopes to launch Reflections at Keppel Bay, its new waterfront project, soon at prices at least 25 per cent above those achieved at the next-door Caribbean at Keppel Bay.
The director of Keppel Land's Singapore residential arm, Mr Augustine Tan, said yesterday that the 1,160-unit development could cost between $1,500 and $2,000 per sq ft (psf). About 200 units will be launched in March or April, he said.

The 969-unit Caribbean was launched at about $800 psf in 2000, with prices reaching a high of $1,200 psf last year.

'There are now more amenities in the area, clear plans for Sentosa and VivoCity is nearby so prices there would be higher, at possibly up to $1,500 psf,' said a market source.

Reflections at Keppel Bay is designed by renowned architect Daniel Libeskind and features six undulating glass towers of 41 storeys and 24 storeys, as well as 11 blocks of six- to eight-storey villa apartments.

These 'beacons of light' and the 'necklace of pearl-like buildings' will act as the residential gateway to the bay, said Mr Libeskind.

The development - his first residential one in Asia - boasts a 100,000 sq ft pool, a 12,900 sq ft, three-storey penthouse on the 41st floor and 34 smaller penthouses. The 99-year leasehold condo, to be completed in 2011, offers mostly two- to three-bedroom units.

Mr Libeskind is in Singapore to unveil the project and attend the opening of a Singapore Art Museum exhibition of some of his most celebrated works.

Other developers are also hoping to push out their projects in a rising market. "
