The Serbian national broadcaster, RTS, has shown a clip about the plans of Besix to build a 333 metre tall tower in Blok 26. Is the tower going to be named after the Belgian construction group?

333 metres? Interesting. Serbia should be thrown out of Europe so London Bridge Tower becomes the tallest in Europe . Only kidding.

It's a great tower though it looks a touch chunky.

If barring Russia then, sorry to burst your bubble, Kyiv will have highest skyscraper. This one should be over 400 meters, 86 floors or 101, yet to be decided:

Projecting works will begin June 2007, construction should start early 2008.

It seems like a very nice highrise, I've never heard of it till now, excluding Russia this should have the tallest title. It does look a little fat but the height makes up for it, plus from the first picture it looks lonely

B/w if this gets build its gonna make beograd look like crap....everything is flat and then a huge tower out of nowhere...sux...as for the tower itself its great, I like the design of it..only thing its missing is a few 250m+ neighbors.
Not really sure. The construction currently gravities around the new part of the city, across the Sava river, so it certainly won't damage the old city center. Currently USCE is there without any very high neighbours nearby, and the New Belgrade skyline doesn't look weird at all. Usce Complex, which includes an Usce twin, is U\C right now, MPC (company which is building Usce Complex) announced they will build three residental towers nearby, Delta(the biggest company in Serbia) will construct a 40-storey skyscraper in Block 20, and there are some more projects on the desk right now and there will d be more in the future. A skyline will be developed nearby, but 333m will still be out of proportion. However I would like to have one dominant skyscraper in the skyline, so my dream solution would probably be, lets say, ~250 meters

But my prime concern is that if it gets built it will eat up too much office space demand, which could have been taken by several other smaller towers

p. s. could you please tone down "which is the highest" debates... you know that every record is going to be surprassed sooner or later, and considering how construction is going now, it's very likely going to be "sooner"

Nice tower for Serbia, when it is built I may go to the top of the tower to see if I can see my Hungary from there. Haha jokes. Puno Lepo Toren

I asked someone in another forum (he's actually a member here as well) who has contacts in BESIX, and here's what he said, obviously after asjking his contact there:

Quote:
Apparently, although approved it is due for final design approval in April at the earliest as they're currently working on design projects in the same city codenamed "Block 20 Delta" and "Block 20 Sava City" diagrams and final quantity surveys for the 200m long Ada Bridge.

One minor correction...
The Ada Bridge will be ~200m HIGH, and over a thousand meters long

This is it, but hopefully, we can expect a slight re-design
