The tower looks great, but the rendering doesn't do it any justice...

Either way, congrats for Serbia .

Not getting built. It never got a permit as the city authorities said it would eat all the other projects and that they want a few lower towers instead. Obviously nothing was built instead...

Should be changed to "Cancelled" and moved to the DN Archives, then?

If that is true (although I have never heard any official statement) then that's the biggest mistake city authorities have ever made!!

I don't know if this project is always of current events, but i saw on the skyscrapers website that it was rejected by the Belgrade city government in January 2007.

Nice tower if they build it though. Certainly it will be the tallest for centuries in former Yogoslavia.

Besis will not build.
This is fresh....

If the City issues a permit, Holland's Vital Estates will build a rotating 80-floor skyscraper (480m) in New Belgrade. Presentation of this unique project in Europe was held yesterday at the Business Club of the borough of New Belgrade. On that occasion, an agreement on cooperation was signed between the borough of New Belgrade and the company Vital Estates.

According to the project, each floor in the future building would span about 1,200 square meters, and it would utilize wind and solar energy to rotate around its axis. The plan is that each floor in this building rotates around the central pillar. In that way, the building's look and shape would be constantly changing. Such facility would be suitable for a hotel, office or residential space.

According to the words of Zoran Lukic, representative of the company Vital Estates, a rotating tower exists nowhere in Europe and, if built, this unique and exceptional building will become a new symbol of Serbia and Belgrade.

- In case the City of Belgrade and the borough of New Belgrade express interest in the construction of such building, which would be completely financed by Vital Estates, the world-acknowledged architect David Fisher, creator of the rotating tower, will come to Belgrade to present the model of construction and the way in which this tower functions in details - said Lukic.

By the way, the cutting-edge construction concrete that Vital Estates plans to build in the tower in the borough of New Belgrade is six times lighter than standard concrete that is now in use in the construction of buildings. This material allows for full energy independence from the central city heating system because the space built of this material is cooled and heated in an innovative way, enabling up to 70% reduced energy consumption. Vital Estates, headquartered in Amsterdam, is an integral part of the Swiss investment fund Vital Source SA, Paradiso, and it is renowned worldwide in the field of innovative construction.

Yeah right, the 'architect' of that thing was discovered to be a crook in UAE so he is now looking for a new place for the con.

And why post it in this thread when this is completely unrelated? Besix is a well known firm that had built Burj Khalifa, they were chased away by Belgrade authorities, while these crooks are invited over. Similis simili gaudet.
