Brick kilns can be seen throughout Bangladesh. This one is in Bogra in Rajshahi Division of northern Bangladesh.

More Bogra

The riverside of Bogra has been developed into a small tourist site with proper facilities. Whew, Bogra sure has changed fast....and a lot more will happen soon I hope.

Mosques (Masjids) can be found all over Bangladesh. This is a small mosque in a remote district.

Beautiful pics! very impressive pace of progress for rural Bangladesh.

Where I can find pics of Sylhet, had some distant relatives there once.

Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak because I wasn't a Catholic.
Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me."

We need to learn from past, and we need to do it real fast, before its too late.

Cox's Bazar getting ready to host first ever SAARC car rally

The district administration is taking all-out preparation to host the first-ever SAARC Car Rally-2007, which begins from Cox's Bazar Thursday.

The rally, touching all the SAARC member countries in a stretch of over 8,000 kilometres, will conclude on April 14.

Chief Adviser to the Caretaker Government Fakhruddin Ahmed is expected to inaugurate the month-long car rally to demonstrate commonalties among the SAARC member countries.

Participants from all the seven countries will arrive here today (Tuesday).

Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation has already imported 26 Safari jeeps, provided by Indian Tata Company, in cooperation with Nitol Motors. The jeeps were brought from Benapole port under tight security.

Four personalities from each field of literature, culture, sports and film and four persons from print and electronic media of the SAARC countries will take part in the rally.

Meanwhile, the local administration is cleaning up the roads, lanes and drains of the town and the authorities are painting the walls of the stadium and different hotels and motels.

District Administration will also organise a seminar titled 'Apar Sombhabanar Cox's Bazar' at a local cultural centre Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner M Aminul Islam said that security has been tightened in the town ahead of the SAARC car rally.

According to a handout, the rally will be organised in line with the decisions of the heads of state or government of the SAARC countries at the 13th SAARC summit held in Dhaka on November 12-13 in 2005.
