Project Updates - June 2006

The construction of the sales and site office is progressing as scheduled. To date, all the structural concrete works have been completed. The special T girders for support of the roof have been installed and interior works have been substantially completed in May ‘06.

The new sales office is operational from 20th May ‘06. The main building foundation construction is currently in progress. The international tenders for the main building superstructure construction have already been called and are currently being evaluated. Only international contractors are being considered for the superstructure construction.














Project Status - Basement Excavation

-Basement excavation completed ahead of schedule.
-Pre-excavation done to optimize piling and basement construction.
-Construction works are completing very soon. Sales office relocated to site to enable buyers to witness construction progress.
-Piling contract for all the towers awarded to renowned team of IVCC - Bachy Soletanche (U.K) - PMC (U.K). Batching plant and setting out completed.
-Piling works due for completion in 12 weeks

The launching ceremony of the first ever-high rise apartment complex, Goldcrest DHA Islamabad, would be held here on June 4.

The representatives of Al-Ghurair Giga Pakistan Private Limited here announced this at a Press conference on Thursday.

Al-Ghurair Giga Pakistan (Pvt.) Limited is part of the Al-Ghurair Giga Group of Dubai, UAE, and has a long history of developing and managing large real estate projects in Middle East.The project is located in Phase II of Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Islamabad, which is largest in it's nature in Pakistan and in addition to high quality construction, Al-Ghurair Giga will provide a range of managed services to its residents, which no other real estate scheme in Pakistan offers.

Karachi Waterfront, Pakistan

Project Overview
-The project is a joint initiative of Limitless and the Government of Pakistan to create a new, balanced waterfront development – Karachi Waterfront, on a 25,000 ha. site west of the existing city of Karachi
-The “new city” would contain a defined and carefully weighted balance of residential, commercial, recreational and entertainment facilities in state of the art, master-planned communities
-The development would also be home to Special Economic Zones creating a hub for trading, manufacturing and services industry supported by world-class infrastructure and amenities
-Phase 1 of the project will involve an investment of USD 20 bn. over the next ten years for developing more than 2000 ha. of prime water-front property. Subsequent phases of the project are expected to involve much larger investments.

A joint venture of NESPAK and Nayyar Ali Dada has been appointed as the project consultant for providing designing and contract management for Lahore Expo Centre.
According to a press release here today, one billion rupee worth project spreading over 400 canals would be a world class exhibition center under a public-private partnership company Expo Lahore Private Limited.
The master plan of the project has already been prepared and approved by the Board of Directors, which is headed by the federal minister of state and commerce and chairman export promotion bureau.
The master plan includes four exhibition halls, each with an area of 6,000 square meters, a warehouse, a congress centre with auxiliary conference rooms and a cafeteria. Spaces have also been earmarked for a modern hotel a high rise office building called technology tower and a shopping mall with entertainment facilities.
The building and structure of the Lahore Expo Centre will have a unique character comparable to the latest facilities of global standard. Site investigations have already been completed and the first of the three contracts will soon be awarded to commence by next month. The completion period of the project is 24 months, the spokesman added.

In addition to the main tower, Zayed Centre will have 3 residential apartment buildings of 20-25 floors each, professionally managed by Hyatt Residency; and one of the biggest and most exclusive shopping / entertainment complexes in the region.
The main tower will also host a 5-star Grand Hyatt Hotel, the largest reception(marriage)/conference halls in the country, plus offices for Multi-National Companies and Large Local Private and Public Corporates.
There will also be exclusive, high-end residential suites in the main tower, again managed by Hyatt Residency. Also, parking space will be provided for over 4,000 cars and Zayed Centre will be connected to the Gaddafi Stadium Sports Complex by a covered, over-head bridge.
The 'Project' is being carried out as a Joint Venture between the Abu Dhabi Group and the Government of Punjab. The two investors have formed a holding company for Zayed Centre called TA`AVUN (Pvt.) Ltd. which will be responsible for managing the project. Turner International (one of the largest construction companies in the US have been hired as contractors/builders; whereas HOK - a firm that designs buildings for Donald Trump, has been retained as Project Consultants & Architects).
The total cost of the project is not known as of yet. However, it is approximated at US$ 500 Million +.
Zayed Centre's main tower is expected to have
approximately 60 floors and will be visible from across the border in india.

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has approved the construction of a commercial centre, Shaikh Zayed Complex, on Ferozepur Road. The centre, consisting of a basement and three towers, will house a shopping mall, hotels, corporate offices and mini cinemas. Its construction will start next month.
The DHABI Group of United Arab Emirates will construct the tallest building in Pakistan over an area of 91 kanals at a cost of Rs 15 billion.
Chairing a meeting on Monday, the chief minister said that the centre would promote trade and recreational activities in the provincial metropolis and generate around 30,000 jobs.
The meeting was informed that the centre's banquet hall would have a seating capacity of around 5,000 and its four parking basements would have space for around 4,000 vehicles.
The chief minister said that the Punjab government and the DHABI Group would soon sign an agreement to form a company, named Taawan, to execute the project. He said that the company would have directors both from the Punjab government and the DHABI Group.
Elahi said that Shaikh Zayed Complex would play an important role in generating economic activity in the province and would improve the living standard of the people.
Bashir Tahir, the DHABI Group chief executive, Kamran Rasool, the Punjab chief secretary, Salman Siddique, finance secretary, Sibtain Fazal Haleem, communication and works secretary, and Pervaiz A Shahid, the Bank Alflah executive incharge, attended the meeting.
Tahir said that his group was launching several projects in telecommunication, banking and other industries in Pakistan. He said that Shaikh Zayed Complex would give an impetus to trade and business activities.
