Star City is a vast American style complex in the UK, with a great emphasis on entertainment. It is located in Nechells, north east of Birmingham near the M6 motorway. [1]

Star City was opened in the winter of 1996 by actor George Clooney. Built on derelict industrial land, it was created as part of revamping the rundown Nechells area and to change Birmingham's image for the 21st Century. Its centrepiece was the forty-screen Warner Village cinema, at the time the largest cinema in Europe.

Packed with mixed-theme restaurants, bars and boasting around 3,000 parking spaces, this complex is the largest of its kind in the continent.


Early days
Although not an initial runaway success, Star City's popularity has slowly gained momentum and is attracting many people from outside Birmingham. The Warner Village name has been re-branded as Vue and the opening of Star City Casino in November 2003 as the UK's largest casino has enhanced Star City's growing reputation further.

Aside from the multiplex and the casino, there are restaurants offering Mexican, Spanish, Chinese and traditional English food.
