I remember seeing the plans for this about a year ago and its a huge tower and sits to the side (on the little park between PP and API ) and behind so it almost "attacks" API

Aldar to develop new urban dwelling for UAE nationals 17/10/06
ABU DHABI — Aldar Properties yesterday announced a new approach to master planned urban communities for middle income families.
The Abu Dhabi government has recently announced a new approach to delivering public housing. Aldar have welcomed this initiative and plan to develop a new community for UAE nationals on the outskirts of the capital city.
The new city, Al Falah, will create optimum urban environments for all those who benefit from public housing in Abu Dhabi. It will comprise of a series of villages based around a town centre that will be the focus of the development and home to the central mosque, civic and commercial buildings, main shopping mall and entertainment area.
It is envisaged that Al Falah will offer more than 5,000 residential villas of varying sizes with parking and gardens. Each village will have community facilities of schools, kindergartens, clinics and retail.

Al Ittihad

-Aldar Properties plans to launch a new company to build and manage schools. They are planning to build 20 schools in the next 5 years.

-Another new company will be formed to build and manage clinics and hospitals.

-Plans for a new shopping mall in the Al Raha beach area will be unveiled at the end of this month.

-They will start constructing two complexes for worker accomodation in 2007, one in Abu Dhabi City and the other in Al Ain. Both complexes together can handle 50,000 workers.

-A new company will build and manage hotels. They plan to build 30 hotels in the next 7 years.

-Today, the new design for the Central Market Redevelopment project will be unveiled, after it was approved by the authorities.

At least we got the Dubai Towers - Dubai today.

Maybe the Burj Al Nujoom wasn't interesting enough for it to be reported straight away. You'll find an article in tomorrow's paper.
