Only 2 cranes are on the JAFZA 18 & 19 site. The others are on a un-boarded site(s) next to them. I have no idea if those will be towers or other stuff. BTW I heard today that The Knowledge Village Facilities on Al Sufouh Road have started receiving eviction orders for moving to Education Zone or something on the other side of SZR. The aerea once ocupied by them, will be used for building Media City TOWERS. |

Land transactions hit Dh1.48bn in a week The total value of land transactions in Dubai last week peaked at Dh1.48 billion, of which sales exceeded Dh677 million. The total value of mortgages during the period was Dh807.92m, according to the Land Department. A total of 58 sale transactions were registered with the department by the end of the week, the most valuable of which was a plot in Al Safouh 2 that was sold for Dh250m. The next two most prominent sales saw a second plot in Port Saeed acquired for the sum of Dh42m and another in Al Qusais 1 for Dh40m. The Al Mararr area was the most active in terms of the weeks sales, with some five transactions. Al Nahda 2 followed it with four sales. During the period, Al Safouh 2 recorded the highest turnover by value, at Dh250m, followed by the Al Nahda 2 at Dh67.15m, and Port Saeed at Dh42m. The biggest area sold was the 27,8121sq ft in the Al Qusais 1, which went for Dh40m. A 23,5115sq ft plot in the Al Khawaneej 2 was acquired for Dh11.5m, while 53026.28sq ft of Nad Al Sheba was sold for Dh13.26m. Hmmm ... Thinking of it, The Maze Tower can be it as well. There are no more piling rigs or other machineries on site and i doubt that with one crane and one piling rig they "already" compleated the piling in less then 4 months.
Plus the Al Yaqoub Tower was planed already over 300 meters so I doubt it was it. ... and the plot thickens.

BTW SA Boy, have they started constructing Al Durrah tower with the original design just shorter, or as in case of Al Rafi complex they ditched the ATKINS design altogether?

I love it when there is so much controversy....
Maze Tower is a contender and so is Khalid Al Attar.... Al Yacqoub seems safe, so Khalid Al Attar is the favourite at the mo, in with a 3:1 chance?

saw the render today and all I can say is WOW, it looks very art deco, 1930s when towers were slim and ellegant. Its about a 1000% improvement on design and a significant height increase

Dubai Properties and Korea's Sungwon Corporation sign Dh1.5 billion development
[Saturday, April 22, 2006 11:54:00 am] Dubai Properties and South Korea's Sungwon Corporation have a signed multi-development deal worth AED 1.5 Billion to roll-out projects in developments by Dubai Properties. The agreement was signed by Hashim Al Dabal, CEO of Dubai Properties and Yoon-Soo Jeon, Chairman and CEO of Sungwon Corporation in the attendance of key personnel from each company. According to the agreement, Sungwon, one of South's Korea's largest construction companies, will be rolling out projects comprising residential, commercial, and retail sectors. Speaking about the agreement, Hashim Al Dabal commented: "This is another important vote of confidence for Dubai Properties in the international community. We are looking forward to working with Sungwon Corporation to develop unique projects in Dubai." He further commented that there was renewed interest in Dubai's property market following the passing of the Dubai Property Law in February of this year, which has resulted in large investments by renowned property developers from the around the world. He added that this is the second major investment by South Koreans in Dubai Properties projects, and denotes a strong confidence by Asian investors in the property market here. "Because of the world-class infrastructure and the international standards of business here, we have received many requests by global investors that are continuously assessing their feasibility for investing in Dubai," Al Dabal added. Yoon-Soo Jeon remarked: "Our decision to invest in Dubai Properties is part of our long term strategy to establish our place in Dubai, which is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. We hope to bring our expertise and knowledge to this market in order to enhance it even further." Founded in 1978, Sungwon Corporation of South Korea is a large scale integrated real estate development, construction and engineering company. Sungwon Corporation's specialization is focused on high rise residential/commercial complexes; civil works; environmental plants and special projects such as championship golf courses, world-class stadiums and resorts. "Sungwon is a respected and well-established corporation in South Korea and in the rest of the world, and we are happy that they chose Dubai Properties for their first project in Dubai," Al Dabal concluded. I think that building is soon to become my new SZR favourite. Now all we need is the new render. Give us something to go on, bud! Pretty please.
