i am an employee of ipc media who currently own KRT, today the surveyors were on site for beggining preperations for the redevopment of the site.

my department move out of KRT on the 16th april, and the whole building will be empty by the end of april. speaking to the surveyors they have said that as soo as the building is empty they will start gutting it from inside outwards.

starting in the highrise and them the low rise. they said the high rise will be emptied first because of the hight increase, an aditional 4 floors will be added to make the tower 33 floors in all. once the height increase is under way the lowrise will begin to be re-clad, then moving on to the high rise.

hope this give you an insight in to whats happening over on stamford street, as most development is on the north bank of t0he river.

Many thanks, I understand the old 'new' design was dropped, so what is the building going to look like? any ideas?

from what they said to me the tower is going to be reclad in a silver casing i believe, with blue lights. im not to keen on the idea but you dont know how it will turn out. the architects are based near the BT tower and i walked past thier offices the other day and the plans were in the window, the looked really good to be honest imo, but we all have different tastes! were only moving down the road to bankside into the blue fin building so i will post pics as things start to happen!

Hmmm this could look good near the OXO tower, this whole area is festooned with some great lighting from the street scape to a derelict warehouse round the back that sits underneath Kings Reach

That would be MAKE architects - they are based in Whitfield Street.

The latest we heard was this scheme had been dropped. Maybe it's been resurrected.

Yes..the old one had blue fins, baubles & bangles, and was cancelled

1 thing though, gunners said that it is getting 4 floors added making it 33 floors in all, but it is already 30 floors?

Very strange as it was last reported the MAKE scheme had been dropped & that Hamiltons would be designing a new shcme. The MAKE scheme was worked up & got planning permission by the previous owners. It has been sold on since.

Who knows what the new owners have planned for the site. Remember Beetham is next door & so is the 2 proposed Land Secs towers so they might try & propose more towers on the site.The site will soon be empty so whatever is planned I hope they start on it soon so maybe they are just getting on with gutting the present buildings so when whatever is planned it could start straight away.

interestingly hamilton have now moved to paddington.. that would place them near the bt tower right? their new website opens in april so hopefully they might put the renders on their if theyve redesigned the building. these guys are also responsible for castle house and the alie street proposal in aldgate
