Mall of Arabia contractor pull-out
United Arab Emirates: Sunday, August 19 - 2007 at 09:16
A joint venture consisting of Arabtec, ACC and Besix has pulled out of a $186m contract to build the Mall of Arabia at Dubailand, reported Construction Week. An un-named source said the group rejected the deal due to being busy with other projects and having 'issues' with the client, the Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari Group. Galadari has now divided the contract into three parts to attract bids from smaller operators.

Meh, who cares. There are already more than enough shopping malls being built and this one is in the middle of nowhere, if it was in the middle of the city it'd be a different story.

it will be an issue for the rest of CoA and Dubailand though, if this project is delayed even more..

Oh crap!

Shouldn't be all that big a deal finding new contractors though. I still much prefer Dubai Mall (BDC). Mall of Arabia may be bigger but DM has the best location in Dubai IMO!

I don't buy the fact of "world's largest shopping mall" is supposed to be the best! I wouldn't look at it that way....I think location is more important than size! And Dubai Mall has the best location there is in Dubai!
