Someone wrote in another thread that Oujda is signed near Tlemcen. Are there any pictures of this? Is the motorway at all open west of Tlemcen? I'm quite fascinated that you would build a motorway all the way to a closed border. I think it'll take at least three to four years after a border opening before Morocco extends the Fes-Oujda motorway to the border.

In that time, Algeria and Tunisia will have completed their parts of the Transmaghrébine, and Libya will probably be done with the part from the Tunisian frontier to Tripoli, and since they're building a motorway along all of its coast, the Egyptians will most likely start to construct a road from Cairo to Mousaid to benefit from possible trade.

Morocco is probably the ones who are losing the most on this strife.

Motorway In Full Swing

A section of motorway, linking suburb cities of Ouled Fayet – Baba Hassen, which are part of the long road project linking Ain El Benain and Boufarik have been opened to circulation yesterday. Public works minister Amar Ghoul gave kickoff to this road achievement. Length of this motorway section is of 6kms, it is due to regulate several agglomerations such as Cheraga and Ain Benain and reduce traffic jam in western part of Algiers said the minister during press conference while in work visit in this location. M. Ghoul has affirmed that this section is open to circulation so to ease circulation burden over Algiers and its neighborhood, notably during summer season. Over total road progress of 60 kms, two sections are on function: Cheraga – Baba Hassen (10km) since July, and that Cheraga Ouled Fayet (7km) open to circulation since May. The minister has also proceeded to the functioning of an urban tunnel in the western part of Ain Benain which is due to supply several stations notably Ain Benain Staoueli and Cheraga Ain Benain .On the other hand, public works minister is to visit another project within a week of another urban bridge leading to Kouba- Riadh El Feth (El Madania) , as well as two other tunnels leading to the new foreign minister building.

Why is it so hard to drive in the right lane? The two left lanes are just overtaking lanes. I understand that the Algerian A1 doesn't have a capacity problem, but why decrease capacity by using only the middle and left lanes?

The right lane is largely praticable. But many people don't respect the rules of the road.
