Something like this. Local newspapers and few forumers published this photo. After that, people started hot discussion in Internet blogs about this mosaic. As result, in June special art comission decided that such naturalism is very controversial and will lead to mixed reaction among passengers. That's why they decided to hide one detail.

Speaking in general - according to initial plans, this station should be dedicated to Russian avant-garde and its influence on world culture. In the end of central hall should be decorative mosaic smalt panel with the image of the famous Monument to the Third International, better known as the Tatlin's Tower. It would be very original theme of decoration.

However, Russian artists decided to refuse from this idea and change theme of decoration. That's why this mosaic did not like almost anyone because the mosaic panels on the themes of Greek mythology and history of the city (numerous mosaic portraits of Peter the Great, etc.) have become very unoriginal and very common in St. Petersburg Metro for the last two decades.

Yes, it could be an original theme.

"Tower Bawher" is a 2005 constructivist-style abstract animated short by Bulgarian animator Theodore Ushev, set to the musical composition "Time, Forward!" by Russian composer Georgy Sviridov (1915-1998).

The film's title is an allusion to Tatlin's Tower, an unbuilt structure conceived by Vladimir Tatlin as a tribute to the glory of the proletariat. Drawing on the tower's design, the film seems to build toward a utopian goal, until the grandiose, futuristic forms abruptly tumble. In "Tower Bawher", Ushev celebrates constructivist art while also critiquing the use of art in the service of ideology. The film contains visual references to such Soviet era artists as Dziga Vertov, the Stenberg brothers, Alexander Rodchenko, El Lissitzky and Lyubov Popova.

The 3 minute 46 second film was made over a five-week period in Montreal, beginning in April 2005, when Ushev ran into problems working on was to have been his first animated short with the National Film Board of Canada, the children's film "Tzaritza". The filmmaker had a strong connection with the Sviridov musical piece, having heard it as a child in Bulgaria as the theme music for the Soviet state TV evening news.

Despite difficulties in securing the music rights to the Sviridov composition, which had been in dispute in Russian civil court at the time, "Tower Bawher" was completed in time for its world premiere at the Ottawa International Animation Festival in September 2005. Awards for the film included the prize for best non-narrative film at I Castelli Animati festival and the award for best abstract film at the London International Animation Festival.

MOSCOW & SAMARA METROS

After 26 years since premiere of film "Breakthrough" (see previous page), other Russian disaster movie about catastrophe in Metro planned to be released on December 21, 2012. The movie named "Metro" (director - Anton Megerdichev) was filmed in Moscow and Samara Metro systems. Unlike "Breakthrough", "Metro" is not based on historical events - it's completely fictional story.

The closed hermetic gate between central hall and escalator tunnel:

Ignat Chernyaev

Escalator tunnel. The main problem with readiness of new segment in delivery of escalator parts from ELES Plant - unfortunately, it became common in last years. If necessary parts will not be delivered in coming days, only "Mezhdunarodnaya" station will be opened this year. In this case, intermediate "Bukharestskaya" will be "ghost station" for few months of next year, before completion of construction of escalator tunnel:

Lower commutator of escalator tunnel:

Mid-September 2012. Vasilyevsky and Petrovsky Islands near Tuchkov Bridge. The construction of additional entrance to the station "Sportivnaya" ("Sportive"; opened on September 15, 1997), which planned to be opened in 2014:
