They got it wrong again! The BBJ said that Starbucks is moving to 300 North Charles (at Saratoga) and that a 1st Mariner Bank is located there now. Truth is, the coffee shop is moving NEXT to the bank. The bank is brand spanking new. The space Starbucks will occupy has an entrance on Charles Street and an entrance on Saratoga and is now vacant.
1) This is great news. Im surprised no one made a bigger deal out of this. Now all we need to do is get Clark to move from Bethesda to Baltimore and we'd have ourselves a pretty solid construction company coup.

2) So, basically there's a new Starbucks coming downtown? If so, thats not bad news. Starbucks usually mean neighborhoods are doing well. I'm not too keen on their coffee, but they are certainly an urban staple.

This is excellent news about 250 west pratt street. I believe that's the building that looks like steps right?

Hopefully with all the Starbucks the county dwellers won't be so afraid of coming downtown and maybe they will discover the local places that are really worth patonizing. I can see them thinking, it can't be that bad a Starbucks is here. We will have two in Mt Vernon soon. Another one is going into 1209 N Charles.

I belive they were building a new Wal-Mart in the town where I went to college, and they intended to close the old when it was finished. When it opened the old still did so much business they kept it open, so there have been two ever since.

Quick bike ride around town today............

The Ritz from IHE. This picture really gives you an idea of its scale.

East Views of the Inner Harbor are just about gone with the Ritz topping out.

From Key Highway

PierHomes Look nice

I forgot the project name. These are just above Key Highway.

I wonder what that one on the right is now worth....

Our new SkyBridge

Charles Plaza

1209 Charles

Moving Dirt/Drilling at the 4 seasons

There are already independent businesses near that new Walmart that are making plans to close because of the impending opening. Think about that the next time you shop at Walmart or Sam's Club.
WalMart is building a new supercenter at I-97 and Quarterfield Rd and will then close the location at I-97 and Crain Hwy.

The main thrust that forced the Hunt Valley Wal Mart to leave it's current location was Wegmans. They wouldn't open there unless Wal Mart closed. Can't blame them. That's a high end area and Wal Mart has reason to be place there.

I normally don't read the Baltimore development thread that often, but I have to say those pictures of the Ritz ( I like the second one the best) are really good.

Ugh.

Seriously put it anywhere. Just as long as folks can enjoy dinner and a movie in town. The bowling alley's can't get here fast enough.
We had one back in the mid 90's in the garage on Lombard and Market place. I went there a couple times and actually escaped with my life. Patron behavior was abominable and the place was trashed pretty quickly. Maybe the art house theaters in Harbor East will fare better because of their less popular movies.

I think that the Wal Mart wants to open a supermarket...can't have two in one mall. Also, that the WM in Hunt Valley is really grim...even for a Wal Mart...that's saying something.

If it's at Saratoga, the is getting to be a busy corner. The new food court, the Super Fresh and a Starbucks.
