The landfall was due to a seismic fault that crossed the highway at that point, that problem persisted for years and that was the worst thing that happened because of it.

A 4 kilometer viaduct of the second level of the Mexico City beltway opened to traffic yesterday.

http://www.gem.gob.mx/medios/w2comp.asp?Folio_=31028

Google Street View drove by it in November.

This corridor is massive. 2x3 lanes at ground level, plus a two-lane service road on either side. Then there are 7 lanes at the elevated level (4 south, 3 north).

There are soooo many things to improve in Mexican infrastructure, that the last thing I'd notice
would be the different streetlights. The quality of a highway is way too far from what it should be. No proper entrances and exits, very bad and confusing signage, dangerous concrete barriers falling apart, lack of shoulders in several urban expressways, not a
proper network.

10 new autopistas totalling 565 kilometers opened to traffic in Mexico this year.

http://www.sct.gob.mx/despliega-noti...a-traves-de-l/

Autopista means toll road, but not necessarily a motorway with four lanes. Quite a number of autopistas are supercarreteras, meaning a high-speed two-lane road.

I agree with you in what you say, but we can both say the same about the US road network there are many bad highways with a standard that is in a developing country. Not to mention its lack asphalt, substandard bridges and other infrastructure, we will not even begin to start about the railway network across the US.

When should the mafia = the politicians get their thumbs out of their asses and realize that the best way to bring down unemployment and getting the economy to boost is to invest in the country's infrastructure. Not to mention its benefits to society it does. Look at China. Nothing dream society in some way but they are smart enough to invest billions of railways and roads and their economy is boosting every single year

Autopista it's not necessarily a Toll road, there're several "Autopistas" (highways) that are toll-free . The only way to difference a Toll and a
toll-free road would be an indication in the signage saying "Cuota" or next
to the number of the highway 2 (toll-free) 2D (Toll, adding a "D" sufix)

Yah, I get your point, the problem in many cases it's not the way the budget is manage, in the past few years the gov. has invest ( I wouldn't say a lot) a little bit more than in the past, however the problem it's the constructions of the highways itself, the quality of the construction, I know Mexico it's not
a well develop country, but despite of that, I think it's better to built a
high quality highway, using quality materials, pavement, concrete barriers, signage, well-cut berms, shoulders, etc. instead of building two like we've done so far.

Maybe you're talking based on BC's highways, because al least here in the surroundings of Mexico City highways are in really good conditions, and specially the Mexico City - Queretaro highway and Mexico City - Cuernavaca highways are well maintained.

I'm talking specifically of the image posted by ChrisZwolle of the
Mexico City ring road ("Periferico"). I'm not trying to underrate the
Mexican infrastructure with my comments, all I'm just trying is people
to get realize that things are not doing any better over time.

Finishes quality is poor.
