Mezcala-Solidaridad Bridge in the Mexico-Acapulco highway.

Tepic-Guadalajara highway

A tollbooth in Mexico is like this:

Some pictures of highways in my state (Michoacan)

(I think that the tollbooth photo and the photo above were taken when the highway was getting build.)

Is it safe to drive in Mexico? I read somewhere that there were bandits on the roadways. I am not meaning to put down your roads (they look really nice), it is a serious question.

Do they look unsafe?

Nothing happens to you if you drive on a major road, or a highway, even if you drive at night. Bandits used to appear many years ago, but now it is pretty safe, the new president of Mexico is making an effort of making the country safer, you can find police or things like that in the road, asking you questions and checking you, even on a small road.

They are pretty safe. Safe enough that they have radio stations in case of emergency every certain distances, so you can call to the help service corp if you are needed. Mexican roads are divided in A4+, A4, A2, B, C, D (A for the best ones, D for the worst ones) perhaps if you drive in a D road, wich takes you from nowhereland to even-more-nowhereland it may be a dangerous road, but not because of the bandits, but because of the holes at the pave, the pretty dangerous curves and the cliffs beside them, and maybe, but very barely, some bandits at some dangerous regions around the country... really far away regions, deep inside the mountains.

As everywhere when you are alone in a solitary place, very far away from civilization, the same danger, there are crazy bad people in all countries.

Really nice motorways! I really like mexican landscape! And I can see in mexican roads you can see the same Bull as we see in Spain(Spanish roads you can find the bull of a wine mark and it becomes now the Spanish symbol)

It makes me laugh when i see "Cuidado, curva peligrosa" :P

We should took the good things of the USA but not an exact replica because they have some bad things that are not convenient for Mexico.
