I give 10/10. Most forumers who give below 10 are most probably from USA. They are jealous with the development in Dubai.

I give 7/10 because that city is just a big construction site for now.

In the next decade it might reach an 8, maybe a 9.

10/10 is not enough for Dubai. Should be 1,000,000/10..

I don't really like it- very extreme height, of course, partly rel. good density, but lacks in quality and city spirit- 8/10 for now (9/10 in future? or maybe largest ghost town on earth...?)

I'm so sick of this kinda comment.

Would you please tell me more about what actually CITY SPIRIT is?? Does it have to be EXACTLY like typical American or European cities??

They've built the city from nothing (desert) because they've been living in nothing (and of course they can't help it!!). Just because it has different landscape, city plan or architecture doesn't mean that it lacks spirit. It has its own way of spirit, though it's not like what you're familiar with.

Dubai has the money
Dubai has the motivation
Dubai accomplishes the impossible

HOWEVER !

It cannot turn hundreds of square kilometers of sandy land into a metropolis (it eventually will ofcourse if you guys bother to look at Dubais future plans) in a span of 2 years so you guys can drool over it on SSC. Sorry, Dubai will need atleast 20 years. So how about you guys give Dubai a little more time to make the fake sandy patches of land into a mega city ?

Ok ..... now that thats over how about you guys move a little from the new fake areas and try and enjoy the older built up areas buzzing with life ?

Picture taken by me 3 days ago

That is the REAL Dubai.

You can "feel" the "soul" of the city there.

It seems artificial, dry and, dull but impressive im sorry but im going to have to give it a 3 and maybe 4 in the future. Dont get me wrong i love the fact they are trying to be bigger than everybody else but its not a big thing to me.

This is a skyline rating thread not a city rating thread. It`s funny how many people complain about not skyscraper related stuff and give, based on that, Dubai a bad mark.

An interesting SKYSLINE related fact. Dubai is right now the city with the most skyscrapers over 300m in the world.
