As a person living in Dubai, i'll honestly give the skyline a solid 8/10 (for now). I believe 10/10 should be for the likes of New York and Hong Kong which have alot of density (even history as it matters to some). Dubai is growing fast but still there are a few years to catch up to NY and HK.

I dont know about other places with great skylines, but another problem in Dubai is the amount of dust in the air, so hence its not possible to see this great skyline properly from a little distance on a day-to-day basis.

8/10 (as of today) but will obviously be higher in the near future.

Certainly tall, but not that pleasing to me. Needs more of a gentle rise up to the top, and not all-or-nothing. 7/10

Going to have to re-take it on a better day and sort out the slight curvature, but it seemed a shame to waste it so I thought I'd load it up anyway.

Why is it that people consider Dubai to be fake? If Dubai builds something, people say that it is trying to be New York but when Singapore or China build something they call it unique.

I dont know why people are so jealous. Is it because they cant stand an arab/muslim city dominating? I dont know but I'm curious to find out the reason of their jealousy.

Even if Dubai is a muslim, arab, and a hot desert city, it still has the right to do whatever it desires. Whether that includes growing grass/trees, building the worlds tallest building, the worlds biggest airport, the worlds richest horse race, the worlds tallest hotel, or whatever. Its Dubai's right and dont give me the crap that Dubai has no history. It doesnt need a history to be successful. Its history in the making. If one does need a history to be succesful then why isnt Egypt prosperous? What history did New York have in the early 1900s? None and infact it still has no history. Hate it or love it, Dubai is gona dominate.
dubai have right to build

we have the right to comment too

why so many forumers in here said dubai is fake city ?

i give you simple example: you look at the lake in your pic, is it natural or artificial lake ? natural is real, artificial is fake.

and do you think the economics dubai is booming like usa in 1900s or japan in 1960-1980s or china today ? no,

your uae country is just a oil seller

without oil, your country is nothing

nothing special with uae except oil

all skyline you can build, all the money is come from oil

even the riches idiot man can build these building

we want to see when one day your oil reserved all gone, how can you survive ?

you can't compare dubai with new york, isnt about the city history. but is about the capable to build this city with what ? with economics booming or with oil ?

and do you think dubai really need so many skyline ?

i think no, dubai like stupid man that got the lottre and dont know how to spend his so much money. and when his money is gone, he will become a poor man and cry everyday.

At first I was closed to give this city a 9.5 but there was another reason that completely prevented me from doing so and it will be only momentarily when all finishes. However I gave it a 9 and this are my two reasons.

First, Dubai is an empty or artificial city. I love the buildings, the skyline and the architecture, but the one thing that bothers me about a city like Dubai is that at the end is a city that is empty and with no one living in it. It doesn't have the soul or culture that you get or comes to mind when you see a picture of New york or even Hong Kong. Hell, even a smaller city like Prague or Vienna have more life than Dubai and it doesn't have the amazing construction or infrastructure that Dubai does. Even after every project in Dubai has been completed, it feels like there will be a lot of vacancies around the city and it will never feel like it should feel.... full of life. Every time that I look at a picture of Dubai with all of the buildings in it, for some reason it always feels as if I'm watching an empty city with no one living in it or a ghost town.

I know someone posted the x amount of projects that have been built by record numbers and that includes the large amount of skyscraper that no other city has, but does that mean it give it the life that doesn't have? I love the skyline, but I couldn't imagine living in there or making a trip out there yet until I feel that there are people living in it.

Secondly, Dubai at ground level looks like a big sandstorm mess with all of the construction taking place. But that will change very soon when all of this projects are finally done, so I feel this will put Dubai in my book to a 9.5

Some people criticized the architecture of the city and the arguments are very absurd to read, but I think is just jealousy a lot of times, because it is expected only cities in Asia , Europe or America to have something like this... except everyone.

In a couple of years Dubai in my book will be a gem to the world to watch... but I hope they can fill of those beautiful skyscrapers and the city gains more life.
