goram_vlad/slakhs: thanks for visiting the thread and appreciating the pictures
To those trying to help Harsh - if it would help - these are jpegs that I hosted on imageshack, which I hotlinked here (imageshack provides the hotlink code by itself). I got imageshack to resize them to a 17 inch monitor size. As far as I know, imageshack pictures are viewable by all, so I don't think there is any denial of access there. Sorry - I am unable to help since I am not too tech savvy. |

Sridhar!
These pics look excellent. Better than the real ones. Ha Ha !!! Congrats. As I have been experiencing difficulties with my broadband (BSNL) at Home, I was not able to upload the pics and the graphical suggestions discussed for the junctions along OMR. Another good news which I have to share with the forumers!!! The TN Govt ( Urban Dev Ministry Officials) have asked me to give suggestions for traffic management at each important junction within Chennai city and the crucial junctions within the CMA. They have made it very clear that this is not an official assignment and they will not pay any money. They were very impressed that a bunch of guys are so much interested in Chennai development and spending so much time in discussing the finer points. One official passed a comment that if the suggestions given by the forumers are good and acceptable to them, they may arrange a Felicitation Meeting at Chennai for the forumers, who contributed and the Chief Minister can be invited for the same. I have the following suggestions, which our forumers may decide collectively. We will start a separate thread - CHENNAI TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT or similar. Let us have a few forumers (Voulanteers) who will act like moderators and remove the unnecessary / unwanted details. First we will list all the crucial junctions and number / name them. Each relevant suggestion should be quoted with the reference no / name. We may start with city first and then go to the suburbs, unless they are very crucial and needy. We will submit the final approved reports at a seminar / conference to be arranged by SSC Forum at Chennai. If the Chennai based Forumers can help me by giving support, I will arrange a gala meeting - may be one day seminar / conference at a city hotel on a convenient date when most of the forumers (incl ones from abroad) are available. (may be Summer Hols, Puja Hols, Deepavali Hols or Christmas hols - 2007). I will try to rope in CII or any other similar agency as co partners. I will also try to get sponsorships by giving advt space. I will use our influence and try to get the TN CM / Urban Dev Minister or Union IT Minister to preside over the conference. We can also invite the top notch guys from Infra Dev field who can also participate in the deliberations. We at SSC Forum will have the satisfaction that all our efforts and time spent will not go waste and we can showcase the fruits to those who matter. Implementation of our suggestions is another BIG issue and lets hope for the best. I will also post this in Chennai Update X for more viewing. Pl respond. |

This is an awesome CHENNAI THREAD!!!
WOW! Right now, I feel that the Chennai airport is the best in India after modernization and stuff..... But I really wish that the trains on the elevated lines were modern up to date, metro coaches...are there any plans to do that?

Thanks a lot Sridhar and others
I am out of my beloved Chennai for the past 10 years. I felt so happy for the mega changes taking place in the city. Everything seems to be changing the street lights/sign boards/foot path/bus stop... wow.. ... the only thing I noticed which didn't change at all... is the dirt on the side of the road. I am sure over a period this one factor will make half of the left lane unusable... is that such a big thing to take care. hmmm Chennaites must learn to live with it. Once again thanks for the great work by these forumers. You guys are doing a great job. |

Thanks a lot for the photo bonanza!
![]() The expressway is shaping up nicely, now if only we had some high density tall towers (skyscrapers) in a downtown core (like bangalore and mumbai are now building!) near marina beach. |
