Great Project.
Saudi Guy.... Is this building part of the Abraj Al-Bait Project? Or is it another development in an adjacent lot? either way it look good. Looking forward to seeing more of your pics on this project! Keep it up.

Saudi Guy from the construction photographs that you have provided and from a plan view that I have seen of the project, I don't believe that Al-Safwah Tower is part of the Abraj Al-Bait project. I believe that it may be a seperate development that is being constructed in an adjacent lot. The podium of the Abraj Al-Bait might be connected to Safwah Tower in order to provide residents in Safwah easy access to the shopping mall next door.
Although I have not seen the actual construction site. My understanding from the photos is that this is the general setup.... Plan View

Location of khukair tower will be infront of al Safwa tower and will block all windows overlooking king abdul aziz gate of al safwah tower same as al safwa tower blocked windows of abraj al-bait tower.... interesting lol Last edited by DreaM1981; March 6th, 2007 at 07:49 PM. |

Here is a photo of khukair hotel being demolished and one new hotel will be built infront of Al-Safwa tower as I mentioned above.
The new Khukair Hotel will block the windows of Al-Safwa Tower same as Al-Safwa tower did with Abraj Al-Bait Project

It's good that a 58 floors tower will be built instead of that old crappy building but it should not block the windows of the adjacent building. I wonder why is the local legulators letting that happen!
Thanks for the info Dream and keep them coming. |

At any other location, views out of the windows would be important but I think in this case the view is much less important than the proximity to the mosque. I mean really, with space in so much demand and the necessity to accomodate so many people within a limited area...can anyone really expect buildings to be spaced out?

This does not mean that Makkah should not be organized and looks random!!Look at Madinah, It is a good example and that is how we need makkah to be. There is a serious demand yes but at least Khukair hotel should be part of Al-Safwah to don't block its front windows... also, Al-Safwa had to be part of Abraj Al-bait instead of deforming the view of such huge project carries the biggest world wide clock and most notable skyscraper in world. Abraj Al-bait is the largest construction project in the world and one of highest towers plus it is an endowment for king Abdulaziz so, how come buildings are being built around it (30 cm far) blocking its windows?? It is very weird and not logic at all. Saudi guy, yes ice cream was yummy and you have to wait for 3 years till they finish the new building
