Silly question to a kiwi or an Aucklander but quite legit!

These volcanoes or more precisely volcanic vents are part of the Auckland volcanic field. Current status of the field is DORMANT!

Yeah - I agree, when I first arrived in AKL I was petrified of going up all the cones but I do believe that AKL is sitting on a time bomb

Doesn't the odd whisp of smoke occasionaly rise out of Rangitoto? (This is a legit question as actually I don't know). For those that don't know Rangitoto is the large graceful volcano across the harbour you often see as a backdrop.

Puketutu, Crater Hill, Wiri, Mt Richmond and Taylor Hill.
